Too bridesmaidy for a wedding?

I’ve been having a nightmare trying to find a guest dress for a wedding - have ordered about 10 dresses and sent them all back.

I’ve found this which I really like but am now worried it’s too bridesmaidy? Venue is a Swiss castle. I don’t have time to find anything else though so am now panicking! Or is this ok if I’m not carrying a bunch of flowers!?

It's nice, but your question is hard to answer without seeing the bridesmaids dresses.

Twistybranch · 27/07/2024 20:36

As long as it isn’t the same colour as the bridesmaids dresses , it’s fine. Can you find out what colour they are?

OriginalUsername2 · 27/07/2024 20:50

It’s lovely. I think it’ll be fine!

DGPP · 27/07/2024 21:05

It’s really nice but I’d put it with gold accessories and shoes which I think will make it more guest like

chloechloe · 27/07/2024 22:22

Thanks for your replies. I’ll check what colour the BMs are wearing. I was planning to wear it with gold shoes.

It's gorgeous - not too bridesmaidy unless they're wearing green also.

RuthW · 27/07/2024 23:03

That is an evening dress and not suitable for a wedding.

KnickerlessParsons · 27/07/2024 23:14

^ this. That's not the kind of dress you wear to a am wedding, although it is a nice dress.

Back21970 · 27/07/2024 23:20

It’s gorgeous, I love it - be unusual for bridesmaids to be in that colour from the weddings I’ve been to (not that many recently, to be fair 🤣).

Would you get a one strap bra or a strapless?

I had a dress bit like this years ago and wore a strapless but would need a very good bra to get away with it now.

giggly · 27/07/2024 23:24

I’m a bridesmaid in September and our dresses are very similar style and the same colour

WouldUSayImWorthy · 27/07/2024 23:27

Yeah it's too 'evening gown' for a wedding I think.

chloechloe · 28/07/2024 08:38

The wedding starts late afternoon if that makes a difference?

@Back21970 I was planning to wear a convertible bra with one strap on.

I went to a wedding this week and the bridesmaids were in this colour. However; I think as long as you check that it’s different enough from the wedding colours at the one you’re going to, then it’s absolutely fine. There were lots of guests wearing evening style maxi dresses at the one I was at and they looked lovely. Paired with non-bridesmaidy shoes and a statement contrasting bag you’ll be fine.

vincettenoir · 28/07/2024 08:49

I like it and don’t see any problem. Almost any dress could potentially be a bridesmaid dress.

This, it's lovely

I don't think so.

reallywhywouldyou · 28/07/2024 09:41

It's lovely, just check re bridesmaid colours

MulberryBushRoundabout · 28/07/2024 09:44

If it’s in a Swiss castle I’d guess it’s a bit more formal than some posters are thinking of, and evening dress is entirely appropriate.

As others have said, just check that the colour isn’t close to the bridal party, and then yes it’s lovely.
