Because I have seen this a couple of times. Anyone else?

I've never seen this. Was it actually raining?

PragmaticDramatic · 26/07/2024 19:42

Nope! No rain and a lovely sunny day!

I wear mine when walking the dog if it has been raining, simply because it is muddy.

PragmaticDramatic · 26/07/2024 19:44

All sightings have been in the city. I would understand wearing them for dog walking. The ones I have spotted have not had a speck of mud on them.

Knee high boots and short dresses are a thing at the moment.

( recall spending almost an entire undergrad year in wellies. They were comfy for pounding the Cambridge cobbles, and as I had very little money I saw no reason to waste it on footwear. Then I spent a huge amount on some cherry red patent leather court shoes that were hugely impractical.)

It's definitely a thing in DD's friendship circle of 2-4 year old. Other then that I haven't seen it.

Yes this Grin

Knee length boots yes but definitely not wellies unless they were out the day before in rain in wellies and are dirty stop outs so no chance to change

Moppet5 · 26/07/2024 22:20

I recently saw someone in a town centre with swishy long hair, perfectly made-up, cropped vest top, joggers and clean wellies

LightFull · 26/07/2024 22:56

They might be going to or coming back from a festival

Just home from Italy and I saw a young lady in a chic town wearing Chanel wellies in temperature of mid 30s

Madness Confused

Have you seen me? I am still wearing my wellies daily for dog walking as they’re easy to put on and comfy. I am also known to slip them on to wear to the village shop.

OrlandointheWilderness · 27/07/2024 08:55

Hmm. I would live in my exceptionally comfy wellies, and after a day walking in London this week I was wishing I had them on..! 😂

liverburd1 · 27/07/2024 08:58

It's fashionable to wear to a music festival. Could they have been travelling there or back?

Or maybe they're just adopting festival fashion to the extreme!!

Definitely. I go hiking in my wellies. Up mountains in the Lake District, etc. everyone else is in hiking boots and I’m in my £8 Dunlops. I do own expensive hiking boots but prefer my wellies.

I still chuck on my ankle length Ugg boot dupes if Im just popping out for a dog walk...def not summer appropriate!

I dont get wellies as a styling choice though in summer. Maybe having really sweaty feet is very 'in' right now!😂

piscofrisco · 27/07/2024 20:25

Dunno if it's trendy but came on to say that i also tackle long hikes in my Dunlop wellies-most comfortable foot wear I own. £8 from a camping shop in bridport. They are starting to wear out after 4 years constant use. I'm getting another pair!

I am not surprised, and is not out of the ordinary, I have seen men/women of all ages in wellies in temperatures of high 20's here in Ireland. But many had the tops of their wellies turned down, as they are cooler in the lower leg and more movement to allow some fresh air in !! I wore them myself that way on a hot day..

wellyman · 02/08/2024 15:47

I on occasions did wear my wellies despite the hot weather in the high 20 Degrees in Ireland. I had the tops of the wellies turned down, as they are cooler in the lower leg that way in summertime..

The knee high boots and lovely summery dresses looks ridiculous enough. Makes me feel hot just seeing them
