But now love…

Mine is T bar necklaces.

When I was a teen, gold T bar necklaces where the ugliest of all jewellery choices.

Guess what I’ve just bought…

Trainers for non-sport activity. I have several pairs now in different styles and colours, and even wear them to the office sometimes.

The Adidas Samba/Spezial trend. Bought myself a pair of light pink Spezials and now I’m hooked!

SparrowFeet · 26/07/2024 20:59

I wouldn't say 'hate' but I agree with trainers for non sport activity. It just didn't cross my mind this was possible - particularly trainers with trousers or dresses.

Also... I have also started to wear crocs out of the house..

Sirplus · 26/07/2024 21:03

Crocs with socks - always scoffed before I got myself a pair and oh my lord the comfort!!

Alwaystimeforacupoftea · 26/07/2024 21:12

I used to think gold jewellery was a bit naff when I was a teen/twenties and always wore silver. Now I wear mostly gold...I like the tone, delicate gold and just the overall look of it.

UGG boots. I can remember when they first got fashionable and I thought they were hideous. I still think that a bit but I have about 20 pairs and love them.

I can also remember being a teen in the 70s and talking about the fact that straight leg jeans were becoming fashionable clarinet that I would wear flares and loons forever. Obviously that didn't happen.

Whatchamacall · 27/07/2024 19:32

I recognise so many of these, although I haven’t hit the button on sambas, uggs or crocs… yet.
absolutely tons of gold jewellery (not real), my silver moon and stars on black cord 15 year old me would be horrified.

‘A good camel coat’ was my mother’s ultimate want item.

Yup.

DrCoconut · 27/07/2024 22:18

@SleepPrettyDarling my grandma bought me one when I was 15. I was into tie dyed hippy skirts and band T shirts at the time. I had to smile and act grateful but I prayed that I wouldn't be forced to wear it. Objectively it was probably a good quality coat and what she always wanted at that age.

Wireless bras. My mum only wears wireless, I always thought she was odd and begged her to get measured and wear wired, now I'm mid 40s, nowhere near a decent bra shop to get measured, let alone buy a good bra. I now measure myself (ABTF) and order non wired online. I doubt I'm wearing exactly the right size but that's the beauty of wireless. If I had the chance to get measured and them stock my size I'd definitely get a few decent wired bras though.
Same with bigger knicker. Love them. Smooth under clothes. No lumps or bumps. Comfort all day.
