Using Tret wrinkles look worse

So, I've been using dermatica 0.05% (I'm used to it) Tret for 2 weeks and I'm sure my wrinkles/lines are looking worse, is this normal?

I'm not purging and skin isn't dry.

I'm making sure to really moisturise and putting almond oil on top of moisturiser to seal in so I really don't think it's because my skin is drying out.

Just wondering if anyone else is using it for lines/wrinkles and experienced the same thing?

Exfoliate?

Are you drinking enough water? I felt like my lines were worse on holiday because I was probably a bit dehydrated from alcohol and not drinking enough water and also being out in the sun. It improved when I got home and went back to drinking my usual 4 litres a day.

@nfkl not sure about exfoliating. Don't they tell you not to with Tret?

@Illpickthatup yes, drinking loads so I don't think it's dehydration

Two weeks is no time at all. Wait at least 2 months.

NiceUnusualDifferent · 26/07/2024 20:23

Used to it as you've used it for months/years? Otherwise you can't get used to it in 2 weeks.
I'm guessing though as on 0.05 you've used it previously? If so dermatica base formula isn't very Hydrating. Lots of light layers help, mist, serum, mist etc if its dehydrated oil won't help.

@NiceUnusualDifferent yes, old hand at it really but, at a lower dose. Thanks for the link x

Glycerin and rose water really helped my skin when tret was making me look worse 😭

It's likely your face is dehydrated as it can be really drying until your face adjusts. Try adding a couple of drops of glycerine to your moisturiser that works for me

I didn't notice from tret until I had been using it for around three months, it's a marathon.not a sprint.
