What’s the accepted response when someone favourites one of your items? Are you supposed to contact them? Or is it just people building a long wishlist and you are not expected to do anything? If you favourite something do you expect a message/offer from the seller?

Hi op no response expected. I usually find someone who has favourited will come back and buy later, occasionally after a price drop but more usually 12-24h later without any drop. So I just ignore these notifications.

If it’s something you’re keen to shift you could always make them an offer - reduce price. I have never done this or had anyone else do so though.

If people favourite my items I do tend to go back and make them an offer, especially if I am doing a postage run anyway.

I sometimes get an offer from the seller if I favourite an item. Depends on whether I really want the item, the offer price etc as to whether I then buy.

Depending on whether it'll be convenient for me to drop off a parcel in the next few days, I sometimes make an offer to someone who has favourited my items - I think it rarely makes a difference though (so similar to what I do as a buyer 😂).

I don't do anything. I favourite a lot of stuff and most people don't contact me. Some do and offer lower or say they can post v fast etc.

I favourite things for a few reasons:

  1. I want to compare it to other similar/same items for quality/wear/price. For example, I have my eye on a Swarovski necklace. There are 4-5 of them on Vinted so I heart them all and then select the ‘best’ one.
  2. It’s something I’m looking for more generally - e.g. a cream handbag. I’ll select a few but will also be looking in shops and online, so it’s a less ‘cost critical’ item.
  3. I am browsing and like the look of something. It’s not a priority purchase but I could be tempted if the price is right.
Sometimes when I like something the seller will offer me a deal - e.g. £20 instead of £24 and I may or may take them up on it depending on my original reasoning. So, if a potential buyer hearts your item you can, if you like, offer a reduction.

I don't respond at all.

It's really annoying that there's no way to turn these alerts off (within the app, I have the push notifications turned off already).

For some reason, as a buyer you can tick a box to say the seller won't see you favourited an item. But not vice versa.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/07/2024 12:38

You don't need to respond I less you want to offer a lower price.

I buy most things I need on vinted
I use favourites as a watch list and a " cooling off" to prevent an impulse buy!
Sometimes I get a generous offer which I accept immediately.

RazorstormUnicorn · 23/07/2024 15:23

I favourite things because I am deciding what to buy. So I might favourite 5 red jackets while I am deciding which I want.

If people want to message me an offer that's fine, but honestly it's not usually what entices me. I am trying to find something that fits and goes with everything else in my wardrobe. Reducing it from £6 to £5 won't help.

I also favourite stuff I really like but don't want to buy just yet. I am trying to reduce my consumption and I do make it hard for myself...

Merrow · 23/07/2024 15:25

Yeah, I favourite things as I'm working out a short list. If someone sends me an offer I'm more likely to go for their item, but it's not always what I do.

Sometimes I get a message where the seller says they're posting that day if I want it, but I'm never in that much of a rush so I ignore those messages.
