For this who are(well) past 39, What would you advice yourself in terms of self-care?

So far I've got -

  1. Lose weight - in a sustainable way, it will never get easier
  2. I do not drink, smoke, or have caffeine (if that matters).
  3. Drink more water?

If you have face cream/oil suggestions for so far wrinkle free normal facial skin - do say!

Do resistance exercises (Pilates is good too).
Stay out of the sun/wear high spf sunscreen every day.
Keep active and reasonable weight.
Engage in the community around you.
Walk.
Take up a hobby or interest that's outside of your work.

If you done these three things

  1. Lose weight - in a sustainable way, it will never get easier
  2. I do not drink, smoke, or have caffeine (if that matters).
  3. Drink more water.

I think I'd just pack it all in now and join a monastery, you'll have more fun there ( if you don't mind early mornings) and they don't skimp on the communion wine.

I'm a similar age... I exercise hard, take lots of vitamins, don't drink or smoke

Things I need to improve are- healthy eating and sleep (if only!)

Have another baby, it'll knock the peri-menopause symptoms on the head for a bit, lol!

Don’t start dyeing your hair, let it be what it will be.

Good skin care and definitely SPF every day.

Don’t get overweight, it is harder to lose when you hit peri-menopause.

Don’t lose yourself in prioritising everyone else in the family (kids; parents).

agree with all but hair - blond hides the grey

i use spf every day .
caster oil on face and lashes, nails etc .
in winter months i use retinol .Im mid 40s but most people who dont know me think im 36 -38 . i have never smoked , drink a bit over recommended but not much .
But its a short journey so we should enjoy it

Fab advice so far :)

A question about sunscreen. As a brown skinned first generation migrant to UK with diagnosed off charts low Vitamin D I'm
Never sure about sunscreen. I mean it wasn't a thing growing up in the cku try I grew up in with baking equatorial grade sun rays - skin cancerslao very rare. Now in the Uk Obviously very different skins around including my DH who's pale white with many moles.

I guess does someone of m ethnicity really need sunscreen for Uk sun when we all merrily roam about in home country without it in crazy sun?

Yes you still need sunscreen.!
