Evening all! Thanks to Tracy Beaker for the new title!
Roll on some bling and style, though it may be a while!

Meghan’s outfit, jewellery and accessories cost nearly £62,000 according to the Mail, including a Chanel bag and Cartier necklace.
I didn’t like Leti’s dress at first glance but it’s growing on me.

SqueakyDinosaur · 23/07/2024 18:51

£62k is mad. Are Bea and Meghan wearing the same shoes?

Papergirl1968 · 23/07/2024 18:58

They look like it, or very similar. Meghan’s are Chanel, but it doesn’t say where Bea’s are from.

Maireas · 23/07/2024 18:58

Does the £62k include her watch, which was Diana's Cartier Tank? Also, the shoes are the same as Beatrice's, Chanel two tone flats. I got a similar pair in Marks and I like to think that one or both women did the same! 😊

Papergirl1968 · 23/07/2024 19:00

Yes, including Diana’s watch.

Maireas · 23/07/2024 19:01

That would account for it then.

The Mail always love to mention the cost of Meghan’s outfits but don’t most royal women wear jewellery in the vicinity of that amount?

Maireas · 23/07/2024 19:12

I would imagine Beatrice's engagement ring alone would hoik her outfit cost up! I'm wearing Mango trousers and a Uniqlo top, but my engagement ring and earrings would increase my total x200!

😂😂

That reminds me i have some jewellery separately insured. I was thinking the other day that the valuation I had and still use must be over 34 years old now.

Does anyone insure any pieces, if so are your valuations well out of date?

Part of household insurance, I get a good deal with my bank account.

Mine has a limit on individual pieces was £750 back then.

Right, this goes up to £5k per individual item. Not that I have a drawer full of such items, you understand!

Our insurance valuation was increased automatically, which was handy when my lovely Victorian diamond ring disappeared. I have a much more sparkly newly-made replacement which helps a bit.

justasking111 · 23/07/2024 22:53

I'll have to look at my policy.

Did you know that HMRC look at insurance policies for anything individually insured when settling your estate. So if grannies jewellery, pictures, ornaments etc happen to be insured you can't just divvy them out these days.

Fergie at the opening of an envelope a charity gala in Cannes in a variation of the Saffiya dress Elisabeth of Belgium was wearing earlier this week. She looks good, though it does seem like she and Beatrice show up at the most random selection of events these days!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 23/07/2024 23:34

Fergie looks WOW in that dress!
Shes got a great figure.
The only thing I don't like is her bag - it's not elegant enough & looks too boxy & daytime.

However @KillingMeDeftIy I do agree with you re Fergie & envelope

Edited: spelling

Sarah works a lot for charities. You have to do a lot of schmoozing to find new donors.

That's so impressive. Elisabeth studied in a foreign language at Atlantic, then got into Oxford and got a 2:1 in History and Politics. All very fitting for her future role as Queen.

Eleanora's dress looks very fresh and just right for the occasion.

One thing that I noticed is that Eleanora has her arm linked with her dad. It reminded me that at the national celebrations last week the four siblings were in male / female pairs and had their arms linked. It made them look like two young couples until I realised who they were. I haven't seen the Danish kids do that but maybe it's a Belgian thing. Seems a bit odd to my non royal British eyes.

QueryA · 24/07/2024 08:17

at Elisabeth’s graduation, she is following in many royal footsteps and wearing really high heals. You can see around her that the mere mortals are wearing flats or mary Jane’s I think in the background. I hate myself as it’s so ridiculous and high heels hurt, but the heels do make an outfit more polished and glamorous. You see it with Leticia too, it’s harder to make an outfit work without the stilettos. And it shouldn’t be like that. Poor Elisabth is heading for a lifetime of sore feet - though maybe £20,000 shoes don’t hurt as much as £100 ones 😀

Maireas · 24/07/2024 08:20

Yes, the last bastion of skyscraper stilettos seems to be these royal women! I get so anxious when I see them on cobbles.

re insurance for jewellery - I have some bits covered on my contents insurance but one or 2 things above the standard value and for jewellery, they wanted it to be checked by a jeweller annually confirming the stones are secure. It’s a pain. One jeweller said they would do all that but wanted to charge 10% of the value of the ring which I wasn’t keen on!

That's what put me off 10% for a valuation. Especially annually.

I had noticed that - and also that the sibling pairings were oldest daughter/youngest son, and then the oldest son/youngest daughter. Given when they entered the church for the service there was a lot of bowing to various dignitaries and different directions before taking their seats, that may have been to ensure the younger siblings weren’t under any pressure to manage it by themselves.

I just Google x carat platinum solitaire and find one of a similar quality of stone and design to mine and use that as a guide price to give my insurer.
