Giving up BIAB habit...

So... I never thought I'd consider it but I'm seriously contemplating giving up my monthly nail appointment. I get BIAB nails every 4/5 weeks costing around £40 a pop. I can only just about afford this anyway (I am on a mission to increase my savings and the only way to do this is reduce my outgoings).

Has anyone successfully given up their nail habit and just started doing their own nails? It's been years since I did my own nails (yes, years !!) so any tips or words of encouragement would be much appreciated xx

Me! Gave up salon gels nearly a year ago. I actually quite like doing my own and have got quite good at it. I have a Mylee gel kit and also sometimes do regular polish (although this never lasts very well on me).

I like having a gap between manicures so I can do some oil treatments in between polishing. I would say it takes me much longer than the salon though, so it saves me money but not time.

I gave up. It took a few months but my nails are so much healthier, I tend to wear nothing unless doing something fancy. Saves a fortune!

I'd like to give up BIAB because of the cost but for the first time ever I have lovely nails with length and shape. I'm worried that the moment the BIAB stops they will split and break again because they're so weak.

So on I go unless I can learn to do it myself or my guaranteed I can keep my lovely nails.

I'm going to have to take a break from biab for an operation. Going to take the opportunity to try nail wraps instead.

I have taken the plunge and changed my upcoming reapplication appt to a removal with classic manicure. That way they are still nice at least but leaves me free to do them myself... looking forward to saving money. Probably won't save time but at least I won't have to sit in a nail salon for 1hour+ every few weeks!

I get mine done every 2-3 weeks, keep them short and plain for work. Would like to cut down but the BIAB is the only thing that stops me bitting my nails, even when they get ragged im tempted.

Yes I did after the manicurist I used to go to overbuffed one of my nails, causing it to become sensitive to touch. I had to give the nail time to grow out, and in the meantime started using a regular polish brand called Nail-Kind. I now rather enjoy doing my own nails! I still go to them for pedicures.
