Wedding dress ideas help

Hi,

I am struggling to find a wedding dress I think would suit my body shape. I’m just wondering if anybody can make any suggestions so I know where to start looking?

A bit about me:
5ft9
very skinny with a flat chest, my hips are a bit wider after two kids but still mostly straight up and down.

I have found some lovely strapless dresses but don’t believe they would look quite right on me.

Thanks 😊

I’m the same height and slim and have very little chest. I chose a long sleeved fitted dress with lace and a deep V back.
I don’t find strapless dresses flattering at all so only tried on ones with some kind of strap or sleeve.
If you’re getting married in summer then you may prefer a shorter sleeve of course.
Fitted dresses will help accentuate your tall slim figure rather than drowning it in something super puffy.
But it also depends on your style - if you don’t want a tight dress or you like the princess look then go for that!

Are you looking for an actual 'wedding dress', or a high street dress for your wedding? With your figure the deep V chest style would probably look lovely, or bardot. In face probably any style! It sounds like you have a model figure. Strapless is not my favourite style, although some of the more modern brands do it well. I do not like the sweetheart neckline, a-line style.

Look at Sarah Seven, Made with Love, All Who Wander and Grace Loves Lace.

If high street - Ghost?

Yes - wedding gown or simply a dress you fall in love with?

This is strapless and positively cries out for a straight up and down body:

This would clearly be gorgeous on a slim frame:

Hi, it would just be a small intimate wedding with close family then would open it up to more at the after do.

Budget wise - up to around £500 but would rise a little bit if it was perfect.

Thanks for the advice - I did see a sleeved dress I quite liked 😊

Thanks - I’m not quite sure whether I’d want a proper wedding dress, I’m open to either really as I’d go with whatever I liked.

As for the model figure it doesn’t come without its negatives, can’t wear blouses etc as just makes you look silly, can’t fill bikinis. It’s a pain in the backside lol x

Net a Porter have some gorgeous white halter neck slip dresses in your budget.

If you are lucky enough to be smaller chested then wedding dresses are your oyster! Something like this would be great on you, shape wise - https://www.dandolondon.com/collections/parfumerie/hermes

I’d swerve strapless - who wants to spend their day constantly hoiking their frock up!

Dando London | Parfumerie | HERMES

NUDE/IVORY - Gentle A-line with plunging V-neckline, sparkle underlay with floral bodice & appliques

Monsoon and Ghost do lovely evening or bridesmaid dresses which are beautiful without being weddingy!
A silky sheath dress would look lovely on you.

For bridal it's ideal though.

You're not really giving us much to go on, here. If you really have no idea it would probably be best to book an appointment at a nearby bridal boutique and just try some dresses on.

I know what I'd wear if I was lucky enough to be tall and straight up and down. For example:

Rewritten - they also do bridesmaid dresses in champagne that are significantly cheaper, if budget is tight.
Self-Portrait - I saw an influencer wear this one recently.
And Reformation have multiple gorgeous options: Ronda, Jeany, Cavallo, Adwen

Obviously everyone has their own insecurities, is there an area you'd prefer to cover? And my suggestions are all minimalist as that's what I like, if you want embellishment that'll be a different story.

I'm selling this on Vinted. It's a size 8 and could be perfect for you. I bought it for £1600 and never wore it as the wedding was cancelled. Looking for £400 for it of you are interested.
