Comfort over style 100%
Arms always covered.
Nothing to tight
No fur/leather
No skirt or dress above the knee
No smock tops/dresses- big boobs they make me look pregnant
No big logos - prefer no
logo at all and I wouldn’t wear something designer even if it was Dior or Gucci with their print all over it

captainsudoku · 14/07/2024 23:28

No obvious logos
Leather shoes, boots, sandals if possible
If I wear a 'pretty' item e.g. something with a frill or ditsy pattern, the rest of the outfit has to look more plain/classic, otherwise I feel childish
Well fitting underwear that is comfortable
Earrings, always
I don't like ripped jeans or unnatural coloured hair on myself.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 14/07/2024 23:31

Oh so much hate for sludgey colours. I have to - I look terrible in most brights and all pastels, and white/black near my face isn't great either.

I think it'd be easier to list what I do wear than what I don't - plain unfussy clothes, ideally in natural fabrics and classic cuts, in neutral colours.

If I was to pick out my most important fashion rule from the many I live by, it'd be no cheap plasticky shit from Temu/Shein etc.

itsalwaysthesame · 14/07/2024 23:48

Mine are:
No following fashion
No fucks about what people think
No adidas socks pulled up high with gym leggings
No see through leggings
No sliders unless I'm the house or on holiday

coxesorangepippin · 15/07/2024 00:24

Top of arms covered, always

Only wear colours that suit me

Shorts must not be too short, mid thigh only

Dresses and skirts are far more flattering

TammyOne · 15/07/2024 00:27

Serious foundation garments
No. Cropped. Trousers. Ever.
Real jewellery.

hopeishere · 15/07/2024 01:28

No beige.
Jackets must be longer than tops.

IllMetByMoonlight · 15/07/2024 02:06

Natural fibres.
No 'almost right' items: if I want a particular kind of garment, I will hunt high or low to find one that fits my expectation, even if it takes a long time. I buy pretty much only second hand so it can take a while. But I am not interested in having something that 'almost' meets my expectation; wrong shape heel, straps to narrow, material has a weird sheen ‐I won't touch whatever it is.

RestlessSparrow · 15/07/2024 02:11

What do you wear on a day-to-day basis?

RestlessSparrow · 15/07/2024 02:28

Passay · 15/07/2024 02:16

What do you wear on a day-to-day basis?

At this rate next season I'll be mostly wearing a sackcloth ;)

I wear ...
flared jeans, straight-ish leg trousers that go past ankles , v neck or wide neck tops, dresses as described above. Quite simple really, but getting harder. I'm short and very pale, lot's of stuff in the shops now overwhelms me in colour/pattern and/or shape

KickAssAngel · 15/07/2024 02:51

Doesn't matter how cheap it is, only buy it if it looks good. No point paying even a fiver if it doesn't suit you. Would you pay someone five quid to follow you round telling everyone you've got a fat bum? Don't buy clothes that do that.

RainintheDesert · 15/07/2024 05:20

I'm plus-sized, so:

No cargo style trousers
No spaghetti straps/minimum is a short sleeve
Rare to wear them, but skirts/dresses at least below the knee
Oddly lacking boob, so higher necklines only (or the whole effect is triangular)
No peplums
No excessive frills or patterns.
Don't follow fashion, wear what suits you.

cantaloopy · 15/07/2024 07:06

No leather
White socks are only for sport, same jogging wear etc
Nothing cropped
No polo necks
No logos or huge brand names
No beige, white or navy

Cantonet · 15/07/2024 10:25

No wool jumpers.
No polo necks.
No itchy bras.
No tops with lycra & synthetics.
No tops with shoulder frills/embellishments.
No to coats made from synthetic materials apart from raincoats.
No to bright colours unless overseas or accessories.
No to Mom jeans & yes to barrel/wide leg/straight.
Yes to natural fabrics & cashmere.
Yes to neutrals, olive & shades of indigo/denim. Plus warmer saffron/terracotta shades for overseas summer.

NorthernSoul55 · 15/07/2024 18:05

No hats, of any description, they just don't suit
No low waists
No round necks, boat neck or scoop better
No dresses unless the waist is where my waist is
Nothing currently in the shops that I wore first time round
Oh and I don't possess any shoes- just boots trainers and sandals

Somethingsnappy · 15/07/2024 19:17

The only fashion rule I have that springs to mind is... Yes to intermittent fasting, so that I'm able to wear all my lovely dresses, that I just cannot wear if I'm bloated (which would be most of the time without the fasting), as I'd look a few months pregnant!

Onelessboob · 21/07/2024 16:12

It needs to have pockets

hildabaker · 21/07/2024 16:16

It hides my great big fat belly? I'll wear it!
