Only wear colours and shapes that suit you.
Don’t blindly follow trends.
Don't dress the same/wear the same thing as everyone else.
Shoes cannot be cheap &/or uncomfortable.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 14/07/2024 20:01

I'm paraphrasing Coco Chanel, but I think it was along the lines of,

It's not hard,
If you follow Su Pollard.

henlake7 · 14/07/2024 21:49

I stay away from mini and midi length clothing, it doesn't suit me.

Nothing body con (extreme weight loss has left me extra jiggly!).

No animal products (ethics).

And wear what makes me happy!

Appalonia · 14/07/2024 21:51

Only wear colours and styles that suit me, regardless of fashion.

Izzynohopanda · 14/07/2024 21:53

Underwear is precisely that, under-wear, so no bra straps showing.

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 14/07/2024 22:00

No pastels
No sludgy colours
No neon brights
No patterns apart from stripes
No frills
No skirts
No artificial fibres

I’m really good fun, honest.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 14/07/2024 22:03

No frills
No bows
No red
No oversize boxy tops
No heels
No thin-strapped tops
No logos

FourToTheMFingFloor · 14/07/2024 22:05

Plain looks better than pattern.

Nothing that makes me look bigger than I am.

Skinnies are better on me than anything else.

Black is my colour.

Eyeliner and bracelets and the perfect red lip, always.

DidntHaveTheLatin · 14/07/2024 22:08

It's weird - I sort of assumed I had fashion/style rules until reading this and having to think of them, and no I can't think of any so maybe not?! Maybe they're just very ingrained 😁

The only thing I can think of is no double denim - and that's not to say I think it's always terrible, just not a good look for me. Oh I know, no handbags with attached keyrings! They really get my goat. Other than that I tend to just take it as it comes, although that makes me sound very open-minded, fashion-wise, and I'm not

Littleguggi · 14/07/2024 22:08

Oversized top or bottom, never both
No frills around my neck, chest or shoulders
No cheap clingy fabrics
No tights with trainers
Never 'save' clothes for a special occasion, every day is a special occasion

RuthW · 14/07/2024 22:10

No black with navy.

StarDolphins · 14/07/2024 22:11

No Lycra, polyester or titties out for me.

wizzywig · 14/07/2024 22:13

No to crazy purple/ hot pink hair unless you're under 30 (sorry)
No to tattoos.
No to cold shoulder tops, see through skin colour leggings.
No to tops that have logos in sequins, with some naff saying on it.
No to waterfall cardies

If you have great legs, get em out. Have fun with fashion, never think you are too fat/ saggy for something

thefamous5 · 14/07/2024 22:13

No cold shoulders or spaghetti straps

Other than that I wear what makes me happy

wizzywig · 14/07/2024 22:13

Oh and take care of your feet and hands and they'll look after you

wizzywig · 14/07/2024 22:18

StarDolphins · 14/07/2024 22:11

No Lycra, polyester or titties out for me.

No titties out? You're no fun

StarDolphins · 14/07/2024 22:19

wizzywig · 14/07/2024 22:18

No titties out? You're no fun

🤣 I want to impress with my sparkling personality & don’t want to distract them!

Icarus40 · 14/07/2024 22:20

No crew necks, high necks, polo necks, turtle necks.
Nothing floral or ditsy.
No pastel colours or beige, or grey marl.
Skinny jeans in the autumn/winter only.
No skirts- they never sit in the right place on me so ride up (I've got long legs and a short body).

I look great in one shoulder tops!

FindingMeno · 14/07/2024 22:24

No sleeveless.
No cropped.
No faux leather.
No heels or pointed toes.
No collars or crew necks.

minipie · 14/07/2024 22:26

For me personally?

Waist on show
Thighs definitely not on show
Wide necklines or cap sleeves to broaden shoulders
Nothing mid calf
No black near face
No beige
No skinny jeans or leggings (except for gym)
No clumpy shoes with skirts
No logos
No polyester

Plenty of these fine for others though

TheVeryAngryCaterpillar · 14/07/2024 22:27

No massive logos, if you want to use my ad space you should be paying me!
Nothing that makes an annoying noise
Extra yes for pockets
Shoes that let you walk like a human being only

PinkTonic · 14/07/2024 22:42

I will never wear uncomfortable shoes again. Always wear the right underwear for the outfit, no visible bra straps or VPL. Only wear colours and shapes which suit me. Most garments look better steamed or ironed.

Peony15 · 14/07/2024 23:01

No visible designer name on any clothing /accessory.
My pet hate, am no advertising board.
Only natural fabrics with exception of quilted winter jackets.
Upper arms always covered unless going to beach in a sundress
No big bikini bottoms on big bottoms, makes them look even bigger, no
tankinis either
No fake nails, lashes, microbladed brows, hair extensions
Cleavage or legs exposed, never both
No bare legs in winter
Plain colours preferred
No solid bright coloured top with black
trousers/skirt
No wideleg or worse, cropped wideleg trousers
No distressed, cutout jeans
Bad quality, throw away after 2 washes type clothing
No Uggs, crocs etc
No tattoos
No weird haircolour e.g purple

I find shopping a nightmare lately, everywhere is the same, quality has gone downhill, tricky to find natural fabrics

HcbSS · 14/07/2024 23:05

Always be washed and dressed every day
Always wear matching socks
no hoodies
no images of birds or insects
dress for the body you have rather than what you think you ‘should’ be wearing

SalGoodwoman · 14/07/2024 23:08

Wear what I like, that's my only rule. If you're comfortable, you feel better, you feel as though you look better and i believe you have more confidence in yourself.

But what I like is a very plain colour palette (pretty much only black, white - not cream -and navy). Some might consider it boring, but most patterns and bright colours scare me, I would not be able to wear 99% of Joules or Fat Face for example.

No gym wear if I'm not actually exercising. Ever.

Good, well-fitting bras (i was an early and young Rigby & Peller addict) and big knickers.
