My DH keeps taking fun out of me for this coat. He thinks it serves no purpose as it's not waterproof. It's not thick to cover winter days. It's too long and I look like a doctor doing surgery!!!

He has no idea where I'd wear it to and thinks it looks really weird what do you think? I'm not sure whether to return it.

I like it.

Shybutrude · 12/07/2024 22:44

It's like business wear for a lollypop lady

Summertimer · 12/07/2024 22:47

It could look good but not styled as in the link

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 12/07/2024 22:56

It's an inoffensive coat for the times in the year when it's too chilly not to wear a coat of some sort but not cold enough for a full winter coat. It's very useful to have an in between seasons coat.

Mairzydotes · 13/07/2024 13:45

The coat is fine. Although the way it is styled is horrible. Her sock / shoe combo look like she is wearing spats.

bananaboats · 13/07/2024 13:47

I like it! Tbh I think it just looks like a normal coat

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 14/07/2024 10:06

It's a completely normal coat, he's just forgotten what they look like because everyone wears puffers now. Not sure about the comp but wool is naturally waterproof.

Wildermess · 14/07/2024 10:19

Ha! It’s so depressing to look along a Tube carriage and realise that every single person is in a short black puffer jacket. And some sort of black legging or trouser.

You're right. And it's much nicer than a puffer.

OuterSpaceCadet · 14/07/2024 11:19

I really like it! My favourite coat is the same shape but different colour. I'd wear it in the spring and autumn. Chuck it on over anything and feel confident kind of coat.

I am in a constant tussle between liking quite androgynous and masculine styles but having a body that suits very feminine clothes. Straight cut coats make me feel more "me" to put over dresses and other outfits with defined waists.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 14/07/2024 13:18

It's a high street version of a classic Max Mara coat. Also as OuterSpaceCadet said, a chuck it on over anything and be confident coat

Max Mara

Thanks for these replies. I think it concludes DH was trying to make me feel so ridiculous in it that I end up sending it back because he's fed up of my purchases 😭

It's clearly nowhere near as silly as he made it out to be
