Kylie was Mckays wasn't it?
It was the tween/ teen range.

Thank you for the reminder- had completely forgotten that but I LOVED it!

Sorry- I’ve caught up with the whole thread now and see that others did indeed remember Clothkits!

Ladybird, Lewis Separates, Chelsea Girl, Miss Selfridge. When I was a teenager clothes came from Biba catalogue also.

A lot from M&S, BHS and similar when young kids. I loved Tammy from when i was about 9!

  • Handmade - sewing machine and knitting.
  • Hand-me-downs
  • Jumble sales
  • Charity shops
  • Market stalls
  • John Moores catalogue
  • M&S for pants, socks and vests.
  • Local department store for branded school uniform bits. (I think plain white blouses etc were from the catalogue.)
  • Then occasional purchases from big stores in the January sales if we went to a big town, and from stalls at country fairs.
  • Shoes ftom Clarke's (August trip to Street.)
  • Wellies from local agricultural supplies.

Tammy girl, Morgan, Jane Norman when I was a teen.
c&a , Adams, next when younger

Mostly charity shops and car boot sales. Very occasionally they'd splash out on C&A/Littlewoods or even (the ultimate treat!) Tammy Girl!

Woolworths. Loved shopping there!

In the early 60s, our clothes came from Ladybird, school uniforms from local department stores (the only stockists) and the rest was either made by my mum or hand-me-downs from an older cousin. Shoes were Clarks or Startrite. I saved birthday present money to buy my first pair of Levi jeans, at 13. They were 52/-.

I grew up in Australia. Twice a year my parents got "store dollars" from a local department store (obviously it was on tick)and I was allocated a share (after school clothes, shoes and undies) I could choose my own within reason (the white jeans were a huge mistake, you were right mum). Mum(then me) made lots of our own clothes. I got hand me downs from cousins.
