Questioning my outfit!

It's my DS graduation in two weeks. I've never been to a graduation before.
I lack in confidence and get so stressed out making clothes choices for special events!
I've bought this dress, but now with the rubbish weather wondering if it will be too summery!
I will most probably need a jacket , unless we have a heatwave, which would you say looks best please?

Looks lovely!

That looks gorgeous with the pink jacket

Loveagoodbook · 12/07/2024 17:06

Thanks, I need to stop overthinking!
It looks like it's warming up for the graduation, so hopefully it will just be the dress!!

It looks good with the sleeves at their original length. You'll be fine.

Alwaystimeforacupoftea · 12/07/2024 17:20

This looks ace, I've seen lots of graduations (RG uni) and a lot of the parents are quite dressed up.

If you can't get the sleeves altered, they would look much better rolled up the other way I think.

I agree

TakeOnFlea · 12/07/2024 20:49

You look lovely. The pink jacket looks nice like you're wearing it

merryhouse · 12/07/2024 20:51

I prefer the denim one. Partly because I think it actually looks better and partly because the other one looks a bit as if you're trying to Dress Up.

Doggymummar · 12/07/2024 20:57

I live in Brighton and often see the hat tossing ceremony at various landmarks. The parents are usually wearing very smart outfits, like you would wear to a wedding, suits for men dresses and hats for ladies. Depending which uni you will fit right in.

First outfit is perfect!
Absolutely perfect!

Mystro202 · 13/07/2024 09:20

Wow that's a beautiful dress and I love it with the first jacket! Fab. Enjoy

I've seen a lot of graduations and honestly there is a whole range of dressing styles. This week we have had families in jeans and families in smart dress/suit. Wear what you are comfortable in, no one will bat an eyelid!

foreverbasil · 13/07/2024 11:13

Oh and reasonably comfortable shoes as there's often a lot of walking and stairs. Hope you enjoy the day

soupfiend · 13/07/2024 11:16

I would say the denim, graduations arent as formal as a wedding for example and personally I think the first outfit is 'older' than the second, the second is more fresh and funky

Depends what look you're going for

Not keen on the sandals but thats just me

FusilliGeri · 13/07/2024 11:43

It looks great. Much better on you than on the hanger.

QualityDog · 13/07/2024 11:44

I think the first outfit is 'older' than the second, the second is more fresh and funky

I think the opposite.

FifteenLove · 13/07/2024 11:45

I’d stick with the formal jacket and leave the sleeves as they are. Lovely!

In my area the families look very formal on graduation day.

Loveagoodbook · 13/07/2024 13:27

Thanks everyone for taking your time to reply! I'm still not 100% sure!!

You look amazing in the outfit with the pink jacket!
It doesn't look too smart or stuffy - honestly it's perfect!
