FantasticFanny · 11/07/2024 21:02

How much do you want to spend?

nc14 · 11/07/2024 21:03

Agree re Sézane but not sure if they’d be classified as designer?

Mercurial123 · 12/07/2024 07:52

Guibert, the quality is excellent.

Longchamp le Pliage

I have a Pure Luxuries London one I use for work. About £100 and seems to last (and I don't keep in it's dust bag).

Also Fat Face have some leather bags, my small bag has lasted years and just looks better with age.

Ruthietuthie · 12/07/2024 08:18

I just bought two lovely Strathberry bags. The quality of the leather is really good.

Longchamp le Pliage

Same. I've had mine forever, so useful.

TheOccupier · 12/07/2024 08:48

Isn't Longchamp considered designer any more?!

notsofantastic · 12/07/2024 09:02

I have a few secondhand Coach bags. The leather is just amazing and they just go on and on. Some of mine are from the 80's and polish up like new. There are loads on eBay, new and used.

Have a look at Coterie Leather and Williams Handmade. They are both independent crafts people. You can discuss colours, size etc and will make to your specifications. Both also offer workshops where you can make your own bags and other leather goods. Coterie Leather offers sneaker making workshops.

Everything is designed by someone! Longchamp bags aren't anymore expensive than higher end high street.

Not to me. It's a brand but not 'designer'.

longtompot · 12/07/2024 09:54

I don't know what your budget is, but if you are thinking under £100 then ones I have from Fatface and White Stuff have been excellent.

undecideded · 16/07/2024 06:14

Thank you for all of your replies!! Apologies for the delay still getting used to using Mumsnet haha. I would say my budget is around £150-£200. I feel like spending anymore would be reaching designer prices, but at the same time I do want something quality that will last a long time. So difficult! 😩

I have an absolutely gorgeous one from Osprey, it's been used more or less every day for 2 years and is looking better and better with age.

I bought mine on sale, can't find the exact model now but it's similar to this one

Look at Polene - amazing quality.

Anyoneforcoffee · 16/07/2024 21:09

Aspinal and currently there's a sale. De Mellier v good and agree Polene are excellent

Mercurial123 · 17/07/2024 04:42

Polene quality isn't what it was. It expanded too quickly, and quality suffered. There are some awful reviews on Trust Pilot.

La Pilage wont last years, its thin plastic and will wear away at the bottom edges, at least mine always do!

Maybe All Saints or Cos for high street leather bags?

Blarn · 03/01/2025 20:11

John Lewis leather ones. I had a shoulder bag from there which I did clean and use leather protector on but it got shoved under the pushchair, got rained on, had snacks leak in it, all sorts and it always looked smart.
