Graduation Shoes

Hi!

I'm have my graduation soon and I've been going all round the houses trying to find shoes and nothing quite feels right. I don't want heels and I know that because I never wear them and don't want to fall flat on my face on stage but other than that I'm struggling to find the right thing, I keep thinking I'll know it when I see it, but I keep not seeing it and it's getting closer and closer.

I have been looking at ballet flats but am only hesitant because I'm not sure they're "special" enough.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!! <3

The dress is lovely but. I'm not sure it's a graduation dress. Can you get some flat sandals

Current shoes I think are in the running are as follows

Ideally I'd like something quite wearable as I'm not big on buying new clothes, also something that's not ridiculously expensive would be a bonus (As would anything vegan) :)

Love the dress! And please ignore any comments about it not being very graduation-y! Wear what makes you feel good and you'll have your gown over it too. I wore bright pink fushia shoes with my gown!

I've had a look at some sandals, I'm just not too keen on having my feet out. I think I am leaning towards proper shoe shoes if that makes sense. I'm also not a huge sandal-wearer and am not keen on wearing something for the first time at graduation.

Thank you! It was pure good luck that we (my mum and I) found it in the first shop we went into. I'm known in my family for being indecisive, which I guess is the problem we're now having. I do love brightly coloured shoes but I'm just concerned about overpowering the dress

DM loafers? You'll definitely rewear them a lot. Or pointy studded flats?

I wore crappy Primark ballet flats to my graduation and it's a huge regret!

That's actually really helpful. I think that's my reservation about the above shoes - they're crappy new-look flats.

I have just found these Summer Spell Mary Jane Shoes | Footwear | Joe Browns which my mum recommended which feel a lot more me than the ballet pumps so I might order them and see how they fit :D

I work in some graduation ceremonies, so get to see everyone's outfits. I think what you're looking at looks great!

I say that the best dressed are:
Those that feel confidant & comfortable
Those that have dressed for the weather (especially in the current monsoon climate)
Those that don't look like they're going out out (I just don't think boob tubes and strappy toeless stilettos go with the gowns)
And finally - the very best are those who have colour coordinated/thought about the colour of their hood. Do you know the colour of your hood/gown?

The dress is probably longer than it looks on the model (I'm only 5ft so lots of things that look short on other people look midi on me). My hood (I believe) is blue and pink, so I tried to pick my outfit based on that. I tried a few dresses that were red or peach but I was worried that it might clash, so I went for something a little bit more neutral that was closer to matching.
