Teeth whitening that works?

I need braces/invisalign but I just can’t justify the cost. So I’ve decided to feel more confident with my teeth I need to whiten them which I hope will help.
Are there any actually decent products I can buy online/in shops that will help with teeth that need a refresh and dark areas between crowded teeth?

Boutique whitening is great. I was really conscious of my teeth but so pleased with them now.

Also I’d cost is a problem, they do offer payment plans for Invisalign if that’s an option?

I think proper teeth wightening (not just minor stain removal) will need to be done by a dentist. Be aware it can make your teeth very sensitive and you’ll need to be careful with staining drinks and food to maintain.

Crest teeth whitening strips are great. They can make them a bit sensitive but only for a day after use.
They're reasonably priced (can only get them online) and give me a massive confidence boost

I bit the bullet and got Invisalign after years of being self conscious about my teeth. It is honestly the best investment I have ever made.

Truthfully the only whitening that works is the stuff you get from a dentist. In fact it's the cost of the moulds that's the main thing, you can buy Philips zoom whitening gel over the internet for not a lot. So if you happen to have some top and bottom moulds from some other reason I would just do that. Otherwise I would focus on finding the cheapest option for getting the moulds rather than wasting money on stuff you can buy in the shops - it simply doesn't work properly.

I have started doing teeth whitening at the dentist and maintain at home using Zoom. I have the tray and also buy the solution. Dentist recommends using the home treatment for maintenance. I am planning to continue this regularly. I drink a lot of coffee and coke so I need this to feel confident. I probably should stop drinking teeth-staining stuff but it's my one addiction (coffee).

I've been using icy bear paste and strips,I can definitely see an improvement.

It is illegal to sell anything to the general public that has a high enough percentage of hydrogen peroxide to whiten teeth.

Anyone selling products like crest strips, zoom gel in the U.K. , Europe etc is buying from someone who is knowingly breaking the law. Can you trust criminals will be selling legitimate, safe , non counterfeit chemicals that you can safely put inside your body?

The only safe way to whiten your teeth is to see a dentist , perhaps have an airflow polish first then have teeth whitening if still needed.

I fully recommend Airflow. I’m an ex smoker and had horrible staining between my lower front teeth. I actually asked my dentist to do whitening and she suggested we do this first and see if I still wanted to rather than go straight in - the results were amazing. My teeth were Love Island white afterwards. I’m off for a checkup today and going to book it for later in the year (not smoked in years but have a terrible tea addiction!).

Zoom works, but the dentist has to get the moulds done. They give you a kit for home. It's about 500 quid though. I got it for 200 as I'd already given him about 3.5k so I guess that was his idea of a favour!

I had decent results using whitening strips, but they made my teeth a bit sensitive. I ended up getting custom trays through jeffreygrossdds.com, and the difference has been massive. The gel strength was better than store-bought, and my teeth didn’t feel sore after. Cost a bit more initially, but I’ve been topping up once or twice a year and it really keeps them looking clean without much hassle.

I have trays but I can’t bloody find them anywhere! Had them done at dentists years ago and dentist said I could buy more gel relatively cheaply!
very annoying.
i can’t use strips as I have caps on my two front teeth and worry the strips will pull them off!!!

beadystar · 25/09/2025 17:43

I’ve had some results with Boutique whitening gel but I think it’s something that will need done all the time. However as a natural redhead my teeth are a little darker than average, I’m prepping for some bonding.
