Kids tankini

DD is 9. She has a bit of a belly - she's slightly overweight but part of it is definitely also food intolerances and bloating we're trying to get to the bottom of. I don't think it's an issue and we can all see that her belly is getting smaller as a result of a combination of slowly slimming down as she grows and getting on top of the food issues. But she is a bit self conscious at times. She doesn't want a bikini (and frankly, I don't like bikinis on little girls either so that's a win win) but she would like a two piece to feel a bit more grown up and also, because she's a practical child and finds it annoying going to the loo when she's wearing a full costume or even just getting it on or off! Grin

Surprisingly difficult to find and we absolutely probably should have looked earlier. I've found this one which I think she might like but I'm a bit worried that with her body shape it might sit oddly. I've tried a few of the obvious sites like Next and John Lewis but keep getting very babyish styles or ones that are more on the bikini side vs tankini side.

has anyone got suggestions?

For reference, most of her clothes are from Zara (her spiritual home apparently) and she usually wears a size 10-11 there.

My daughter is similar with a belly and a similar age. Last year, and we've just had delivered for this year, some tankinis from SHEIN and they only show a bit of their belly. If you get the ones with high waisted bottoms, they are more flattering. Do check the returns policy as one we ordered (only about £6) was non-returnable and it was too small but we gave it to one of her friends so it didn't go to waste.

UI can't believe I didn't think of Shein. She loves a bit of shein.

Ordered myself some high waisted bikinis from there as well for the same reason, and tankinis. Can't wait now and so much easier when going to the toilet lol

My Dd liked tankinis as a little girl I used to get them in sports shops.

Try looking at brands that specialise in sportswear for kids, such as Speedo.
By the way, try looking on Etsy where you can find unique and customised swimming costume options. Also, don't forget to check out the article about promo codes to find great deals and discounts on discount sites for shopping

I've got some from the supermarkets in the past.

Definitely one from ASDA last year. It was a 3 piece one with a long sleeved UV top too.

I have had a look at Sainsburys which is our only big store locally. Perhaps I should look online.

I have seen a couple of sports ones, but she doesn't really like those. But perhaps if I actually look at a sports shop they'll have a bigger selection. She does like the patterns on some of the one piece speedos we see at our local pool for sale.

As PP said, it's all about the high enough waist on the bottoms, then it doesn't matter how long the top is.

If you can only find skimpy girls bikini bottoms it's worth checking the boys section too. My sons have swimming shorts from Decathlon that are a bit like short running tights because their lessons don't allow baggy trunks. They have a drawstring waist and would be fine for a girl too.

I have seen a few with sort of shorts too. I'm going to take another look around, keeping some of these tips in mind and see what I can find.

I don't have a link but my 14 yearold has been wearing Roxy swimwear since she was about 5. They have always been excellent, fit well and are good quality. They also have a great range of swim shorts and rash vests, we've found these to be good on more active holidays.
