Air force 1

Are they a good trainer for a middle aged woman with occasional knee problems? I have worn out my sketchers, find my air max 90 too 'platformy' causing occasional knee pain. I like the fact that AF1 are made of leather and look stylish but are they comfy? Are they clunky or easy to walk in?

I love mine, have several different pairs

I’ve had a couple of pairs of the faux leather ones and found them really comfy and nice to walk in. Then I got some Sketchers Go Runs and they’re the best shoes I’ve ever had - way better than the Nikes. I religiously wore Nikes but the quality isn’t anything like it used to be so I personally would shop around - but that’s just me!

Thank you. Are the Sketchers Go Runs the ones with a slight platform soles, or the classic ones? The newer version also hurt my knees. 😥

AF1 looks very stylish but would it look silly on a 50 year old? No agism implied here but I would n't want to seem try hard. But mostly interested if they are comfortable to walk in.

Definitely comfy, I wear mine a lot and I do lots of walking in them (25 miles over 2 days the other weekend)
I'm early 40's and can see myself wearing them for years to come

AF1 are the most comfortable trainers I have had in a long time - I have multiple pairs. I have rheumatoid arthritis and often need to replace insoles in shoes due to insufficient arch support, but haven't needed to in these. I am 47 fyi.

I wear Nike Court Legacy lift and I'm around your age. They have a platform sole though so maybe not to your taste. They are really comfy and I don't think I'd ever wear any other trainers.

SillyFaff · 09/07/2024 18:37

Are the soles quite tall, almost platform like on AF1?

Not platform like. Less padded/spongy than air max 90’s but just as comfortable. Very wearable. Lots of fab colour choices. One thing I’d say - come up quite big. I’m a pretty standard 5 but wear 4.5 in AF1. Not sure if others find that?

I've also been on a trainer hunt and have alighted on these, which I'm now evangelical about. Very comfortable, and you can get an all-white version if that's what you're looking for:
