Is this too close to white for a wedding?

DH thinks this dress is too close to white for a wedding, but I think it's fine.

I'd love third opinions!

For context, the bride herself is not wearing white, in case that has any bearing on it.

I think it's fine. Team it with blue accessories.

I'm always amazed by the "looks like a nighty" comments on this and other threads.

Some of you must have incredibly glamourous sleep wear.

[It doesn't look anything like a nightdress]

Lol, very much not. Had on jersey Snoopy pyjamas from M&S last night Grin

It just gave me the kind of vibe that @Saisong posted, like the David Nieper/Chums ads in magazines.

TinyKittenPaw · 07/07/2024 18:40

Totally fine. If in doubt accessorise with blue or pink maybe -shoes / bag / wrap etc

Topsy44 · 07/07/2024 18:44

I think it’s a lovely dress and absolutely fine for a wedding. I would probably add a blue jacket though.

CultOfTheAirFryer · 07/07/2024 19:01

Looks fine in real life but I’d worry it will show white in photos. A blue jacket would help

LizzeyBenett · 07/07/2024 19:05

I think it's fine I would play up the blue with accesories though

Julyshouldbesunny · 07/07/2024 19:22

Maybe he can't see past the price.....

NotSoHotMess24 · 07/07/2024 19:25

I always err on the side of caution at weddings and funerals, as it's just not worth it if you end up offending. If there are others you like, I'd probably go for those, just to be safe...

DodoTired · 07/07/2024 19:32

Fine

turnipsarelush · 07/07/2024 09:03

I wouldn't. It's going to stand out in the photos and the blue won't be as noticeable in pictures

Essentially this

It's borderline. All it takes is some bad lighting and that blue won't show up!

CheerfulBunny · 07/07/2024 19:37

No, it's a lovely dress and totally appropriate - but I'm sure there will be plenty of replies telling you it is. I'd never heard of such a thing as too white for a wedding until I'd read it here. I don't think it's a 'thing', not in my life of 50 yrs so far anyway.
I couldn't honestly tell you what my guests wore at my wedding, the whole day was a flippin' blur. As a general rule of thumb, as long as you don't rock up in a veil clutching a bunch of flowers, you'll be alright.
And.. breathe...

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 07/07/2024 20:55

What style of wedding, and if the bride isn't wearing white what style of dress is she wearing. Casual, laid back registry office wedding wearing a colored midi dress then the photos could mean you stand out more but full ball gown bridal dress in a colour then you'd be fine.

EricHebbornInItaly · 07/07/2024 22:29

I wouldn’t, it will photograph white. If you have to ask, it’s almost certainly not appropriate.

It has nightdress vibes to me, but I suppose that's a thing?

Funny you should say that, but I was half tempted by multiple dresses in Primark today, but on stepping back for a second, they were ALL nightie like! 🤯😱 Ended up with control pants and face wipes. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Anonforthisq · 07/07/2024 22:58

I think its fine, dosnt look at all like a wedding dress which is what avoiding white is for!

ChaLee144 · 07/07/2024 23:41

Looks blue to me, but is it worth that much money for something made in China? At least it says online the clothes are mainly made in China.

I saw an article where a woman wore what was supposed to be a night dress as a normal dress to a wedding, so can work both ways lol.

Mum turns heads at wedding by wearing a Primark nightie instead of dress

The savvy shopper impressed wedding guests after finding the beautiful £20 nightie and incorporating it into a formal look for the special occasion by adding colourful accessories

jimjamjames · 07/07/2024 23:45

I would worry if the bride isn't wearing white then some people might think you are the bride

BeckiWithAnI · 07/07/2024 23:47

I think with a blue jacket/cardigan it would look less white/ bridal in the photos, but my gut says if you have to ask the question then don’t take the risk.

She looks great. It doesn't look like a nightdress.

It’s lovely

Luio · 08/07/2024 08:11

I think the model wears it very well. It would make me look like a dumpy person on the prairie. I would probably spill something down it as well.

theapo · 08/07/2024 08:12

It's lovely - too much blue to be a concern

curious79 · 08/07/2024 08:22

Perfect but accessorise with some bolder blue shades to maybe it very clear
