Hi
looking at investing in a skincare regime. Up until now I’ve dabbled with beauty pie, olay revitalift when on offer etc but chop and change and never really give things time, beauty pie usually to me fails to live up to reviews. I’m 55 and will have some birthday money next week and am thinking of giving medik8 a go. Has anyone tried their products ? Specifically the Vit C tetra lux, retinal which is supposed to be much better than retinol and advanced day cream with spf and night cream?
thanks

I've not tried it but I watched a YouTube video last night where a dermatologist recommended the Medik8 crystal eye cream which has retinal in it, she said it's the closest you can get to prescription anti aging skin care. I'm really hating my under eyes at the minute so I am going to buy it. It also comes in different strengths of retinal so I'm going to buy the lowest dose and work my way up. Apparently retinal is stronger than retinol. I will probably buy the face cream as well.

@Podcast84 please share how it goes
i have a friend who has a few products and raves
as a new customer you get 15% off on their website so think I’ll order the vit c and crystal retinal and maybe the moisturiser !

I started using the full range a few months ago. Really like it, skin looks and feels firmer and more “bouncy” The eye cream is yellow though, which is a bit of a shock the first time you use it 🤣🤣 it definitely leaves a slight yellow tinge so only to be used at night!

@Ukhotelsareshit are you using the crystal retinal tempted ti start at 0.6 ? Nervous !! Also with vit c - I’ve used other vit c si was heading straight in to strongest ?

Yes, I just cracked on with both! Started as per directions, once per week, then twice etc, No issues…..

I’ve been using the night cream and vit C day cream with spf for a few months now. They suit my skin well which can be on the dry side. I’m 3/4 of the way through crystal retinal 3 which is the lowest. Tbh I haven’t noticed any difference but wouldn’t expect to at that strength. I’m a bit impatient so got 10 and 20 samples at Spack NK. Think may just jump to 20 now. I also use liquid peptides serum - like it a lot. I’m 51.

Isthereeverenoughtineinaday · 07/07/2024 12:56

@stclair interesting - i'm nervous to jump to 10 so maybe starting at 6
can i ask the morning and evening routine. I'm thinking AM - cleanse, Vit C, daycream. PM Cleanse, Retinal every other day then night cream. Am i missing any key items to de wrinkle my 55 year old skin - need to add plumpness ideally as feel face look a bit drawn!

@Isthereeverenoughtineinaday
yes I think unless you have very sensitive skin 6 will be fine. I was scared when I started too, but all for nought as it turns out! Use spf obviously. I would say the liquid peptides serum has been the biggest benefit to my skin so far. I think they do refer to serums as workhorses so I use that in the AM and vit C day cream. One of the acids - salicylic perhaps? - is also good to take off the dead layer for everything else to absorb properly, but I think retinal may also have that effect. I sometimes use Dr Dennis Grossman exfoliating pads as well.

Medik8 gets good feedback: Crystal Retinal works fast with visible results and less irritation if you build up gradually, C-Tetra Luxe can brighten but feels heavy and may break out sensitive skin, and the day/night SPF creams have fewer reviews but overall the brand is solid and worth trying.
