I'm going through Heathrow next week with a few hours to kill. I would love to buy myself some perfume but I usually get overwhelmed in duty free and can't really smell anything properly.

I like floral scents generally - loved anais anais back in the day. I liked Rive Gauche too but that formula seems to have changed. At the moment I am wearing - and liking - Jo Malone Pear and English Freesia - I tried some others of hers when last in the duty free but they all melded into one smell at the counter.

I also wear L'eau d'issey and really like it. Previously wore Estee Lauder Pleasures but that's another one I think has changed over the years (or I have).

None of chanel work on me.

I'd love a recommendation from anyone.

If you let me Anai Anai you might like Cool Water by Davidoff. They are both light fresh fragrances.

MissBattleaxe · 06/07/2024 18:55

Try A Drop D'Issey by Issey Miyake. It's fresh as dewdrops.

TheGirlattheBack · 06/07/2024 18:55

I always get lots of compliments when I wear Chanel Coco Madamoiselle.

thedendrochronologist · 06/07/2024 18:58

If you are after one of the bargain ones try emporio Armani she (in a silvery gold metal bottle)

I recently got lancome tresor for £33 for the first time it's gorgeous.

Next purchase is EL bronze goddess - not had it before but apparently smells like summer

Some more pricey ones miss dior and chanel allure are gorgeous.

Nina Ricci L'air du temps is a bit of a classic. I've worn it since my teens & love it. Warm floral, not heavy or sickly.

Blueuggboots · 06/07/2024 19:02

My OH wears emporio Armani she. It's a lovely fragrance.

Stressedgiraffe · 06/07/2024 19:02

I wear Lancome la vie et belle. It's around £100 for 100ml. I get loads of complements and it last all day. Cannot recommend enough.

Beautiful by Estee Lauder.

Friendofdennis · 06/07/2024 19:06

Rainbowsponge · 06/07/2024 19:07

Flowerbomb Ruby Orchid smells divine

Pallisers · 06/07/2024 19:08

Thank you so much - I've made a note of all of them (except L'air du temp which is lovely but is my MIL's scent and much as I love her .... )

Nectar by Issey Miyake, so beautiful, definitely worth a sniff!

RadRad · 06/07/2024 20:32

Anything Penhaligon’s, the Duchess Rose or Halfetti are both lovely. Also, you can’t go wrong with anything Jo Malone. Both brands also do “scents library” travel size packs if you can’t decide on one scent.

GettingStuffed · 06/07/2024 20:40

I love Prada Paradox and Paradox Intense. I would buy it but I have a lot of different perfumes although all but two are hiding in a removal box.

EternalSunshine19 · 06/07/2024 20:53

Stella by Stella McCartney

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2024 20:58

I also loved Anais Anais and Rive Gauche back in the day and also like English Pear and Freesia so our taste is similar.

I think a lot of the ones recommended above might be on the heavy side for you.

My suggestions:

Flowerbomb, the original one
J'Adore by Dior
Kenzo Flower
Chloe, especially the original one
YSL Cinema. A bit of a wild card, but I think you might like it
Dolce by Dolce and Gabbana. I'm wearing this today, it's a pretty and fresh floral and might be right up your alley.

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2024 21:03

Back again for one more suggestion! I see you're not into Chanel, and neither am I, but if you haven't tried No. 19 EDT it's one of the closest I've come across to Rive Gauche. It's one of my favourites and just about the only Chanel I like. It has to be the EDT though.

Pallisers · 06/07/2024 21:26

Thank you all you lovely people.

DramaAlpaca, I think you are right - we do have similar tastes! The only Chanel I ever liked was No. 19 but don't like it now - will try the EDT one.

Second vote for Penhaligans Halfetti
and also love Armani She.

HansHolbein · 06/07/2024 21:39

Molecule 01.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 06/07/2024 22:20

😁😁😁

It was originally my mum's. Borrowed it as a teen. She said it smelt better on me & went on to something else!

Twotimesrhymes · 06/07/2024 22:23

Armani she is a very wary to wear fragrance

DayIntarnishedarmour · 07/07/2024 11:32

I’m not sure about Halfeti bearing in mind the florals OP has said she likes. I got some and ended up selling it on eBay as it was so strong and heavy. It’s spicy and leathery rather than floral and light.

maybe try Givenchy L’interdit
Jo Malone Wild Bluebell
Jo Malone Peony and Suede Blush
Jo Malone Poppy and Barley

nickyschof · 08/07/2024 11:27

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. It's very reasonable, and has a beautiful soft fragrance.

SamanthaJonesWasRight · 08/07/2024 11:38

If you like fresh and floral Halfeti probably isn't it, although personally I love heavier more masculine fragrances on the woody oud end, and love it.

See if Creed Aqua Fiorentina or Love In White might fit the bill for you.
