I have ADHD and anxiety and sometimes I just don't know if I expect too much.

Went with brunette hair to go copper with this photo.

I just wanted one colour all over.

I thought all my hair was virgin as I haven't dyed it in ages and had a big chop but the lady said there must be colour on ends.
But my fringe is still like that too?

when I left it was still wet as I didn't pay for blow-dry so I couldn't really see the end colour and she did say some parts were darker but it looks like the way natural hair is.

when i got home and dried it I saw this.

i phone and I asked when I can have the dark bits lightened again as theyre really dark and she said 4 weeks but I feel like I can't walk round like this for 4 weeks.

I asked if i could send photos to the salon and have done.

I'm not sure what to do tbh. What would you do or expect really in this situation?

If it's not what you wanted I can see why you're upset but if it helps at all I think your hair looks smashing, much nicer than the hair in the model photo!

It's got random chunky brown bits like 90s low lights all through and lots of different colours. And the bottom half is completely different to top.

I agree.

neilyoungismyhero · 03/07/2024 18:40

No, I wouldn't be happy. I could do a better job at home tbh. Doubt it was cheap.

SoManyBadgers · 03/07/2024 18:40

It looks to me like it's the hair close to your head that's lighter and the ends that are darker, is that right? In which case I'd guess that the warmth of your body has lifted the colour more where it's closer to your head. Maybe they should have used one of those heater hood things over your head to lift the rest?

Yes. It was bleached first time and didn't lifet very well at all at ends.

I would have thought she would rebleach with heat.

But she just did a bleach bath on ends which is shampoo and bleach so not as strong?

I appreciate people saying it's nice but it's really now. It's so patchy and about 4 different shades all over.

You’ve got hot root which is as OP says is because of the warmth of your head and the stylist probably applying the dye to your roots at the same time as lengths.

even if you had colour on the lengths of your hair they should have taken steps to balance it and if she couldn’t then she should have set tbe expectation at the outset, so you’d know what to expect.

Honestly I think it looks good as it is, very funky but I see why you’re upset.

Personally I’d leave it a few days and stick a box dye to a dark copper over it. To have light copper you need to bleach and there’s lots of upkeep. A darker auburn copper is way more manageable

Flimy · 03/07/2024 19:21

I really don't understand people saying it looks good. How can hair with massive banding throughout look good??

Idontjetwashthefucker · 03/07/2024 19:30

Ignore them OP, it's not what you asked for and YOU don't like it, doesn't matter what anyone else thinks

circular2478 · 03/07/2024 19:55

Sorry it doesn't look good. Looks like a home dye gone wrong.

Apileofballyhoo · 03/07/2024 19:59

It doesn't look as bad as you think it does, but it's definitely something they need to fix.

crowgift · 03/07/2024 20:16

they need to fix it but I wonder if they even have the skills to fix it.

Oh dear 🫤

Another salon told me from the photos colour correction would start at £100

Don't panic. It really doesn't look bad (in the sense that I wouldn't think if I saw you "what happened there") but it is absolutely not what you want - I would go back and see and make a decision based on how well you know the salon and how experienced they are? You could need to have it bleached again so also consider the condition of your hair (I have thick black Asian hair so I know that mine would need a huge amount of bleaching which would sacrifice condition, especially so close to the previous bleaching).

Maddy70 · 04/07/2024 00:25

It isn't what you wanted and asked for so ask for it to be redone. However, i LOVE it. Looks really funky

That. I actually really like it, I wouldn't look at it and think oh that's a bad dye job

EdgyCat · 04/07/2024 10:15

I wouldn't be happy with it because I don't like alternative hairstyles. I would expect free correction on 4 weeks time like she said and I would ask her if toning shampoos might help calm the bright orange down to bridge the contrast a bit.. meanwhile I would style in with wide bands or in a style that hides the bright roots.

OP I suppose I've seen pictures like this one and think it looks nice - this is a copper balayage. But that's not what you asked for!

Would you be happy with this?
velvetcloak · 04/07/2024 10:29

I love the colour you've chosen - in the bits that are actually that colour. It is a really amateur job. I wouldn't want to pay for that.

Ejvd · 04/07/2024 17:22

I have no idea what you are talking about, the OP is very unclear. However, in the pictures attached to the OP, the hair and colours look lovely.

Ejvd · 04/07/2024 17:25

Ah I re-read that you wanted one colour all over. In that case, no I wouldn't be happy. However, I really like the result anyway.

JackieGoodman · 04/07/2024 17:26

I love it (realise that's irrelevant as its not how you want it and its not like the pic)

Flimy · 03/07/2024 19:21

Unless it's your photos not showing it, I can't see any banding. It looks fine, a bit balyage and blended but I absolutely understand its not what you wanted. It will cost quite a lot to correct it, as you'll need someone with the skill to re-bleach it and match all the colours up.

Spongebag · 04/07/2024 17:48

Can you define "ages" since you coloured it previously?
This does look like incompetence from the salon but also very much like they've tried to (unsuccessfully) lift box dye.
I would ask for your money back and ask for local recommendations on Facebook for another salon. Where I work this would cost £100-£150

EdgyCat · 04/07/2024 18:55

I think balayage is dark roots and then lighter colour at the mid length to the ends, op has bright orange highlights from the scalp, thats not balayage afaik
