Diptyque fragrance, what's your favourite?

If you have one??
I bought a bunch of samples on ebay which arrived today! Have previously loved l'eau papier, but it doesn't seem to last on me and occasionally reminds me of old men's hair cream in the 70's. Has a gorgeous edge otherwise, but is so temperamental..

I am currently impressed by capitale, and fleur de peau.
I had been convinced by eau duelle but it really rubs harsh on my skin and feels to smoky/spiced. It is a vanilla scent, but I seem to prefer the more juvenile 'vanille' by laura mercier. it's my comfort scent.

I only ever buy guerlain, laura mercier or dyptique, so like to try new ones sometimes. I tend to get them cheaper on ebay or in tiny amounts to avoid the cost Grin.
Any other fans here?

I have Eau Moheli, Du Son, Orpheon and Ilio which I love. I also have Eau Rihla but I’m not sure about it yet.

I wore Philosykos a lot in my youth but can’t wear it anymore because of the memories.

Almost all of my perfumes are Diptyque after having a big clear out a few years ago!

tobee · 02/07/2024 01:11

I tried a few earlier in the year at Selfridges but then immediately forgot which was which so I'm no use! 😬🙄😀

tobee · 02/07/2024 01:12

Oh and I love Guerlain too.

DramaAlpaca · 02/07/2024 01:13

I bought a sample set, but tbh I didn't warm to any of them. In my experience you either like the DNA of a perfume house or you don't, and I don't seem to be a Diptyque fan.

IllMetByMoonlight · 02/07/2024 01:15

Philosykos! Never had so much praise, bar Molecule01.

Also Doson.

Tam Dao gave me a grim headache without fail.

If you like Diptyque, you might like Miller Harris?

Gormenghastly · 02/07/2024 01:31

I could do with getting my hands on more mini samples. The ones I thought I'd hate are wonderful, and those I thought I'd love are less interesting!

Philosykos is beautiful, I love the woody green fig coupled with the creamy, coconut notes. They have an eco refill service so at some point I'm planning to take my empty bottle in and get more. I've just got one of the Beauty Pie fragrances (La Botanista) which has tomato leaf and green fig notes and that's a nice inexpensive alternative for the summer, but Philosykos is so subtle and distinctive that I'll definitely repurchase in the future.

I wanted to like Eau Neroli but it was all wrong on my skin - overwhelming and strong, like an old fashioned cologne. L'Autre sounds very appealing, but definitely one to sample before buying. I think because their fragrances have strong projection, you really need to try them in person before committing to them.

paristotokyo · 02/07/2024 11:35

Philosykos here also, it's very nice. It's a fresh green type scent that I'd only wear in the spring/summer. I also suprisingly liked the rose fragrance, even though I usually dislike rose. It's also green smelling. I think eau duelle sounds up my street as well as eau rihla but I'm yet to sample those.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 02/07/2024 11:36

Volutes and Eau Capitale

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 02/07/2024 11:40

L'ombre dans l'eau

Can't stand Philosykos, it just smells like cheap coconut to me.

WildFlowerBees · 02/07/2024 11:54

Eau Duelle is my favourite, comes out in September and I stop wearing it in May. I live how comforting it smells, not a sweet vanilla either.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/07/2024 11:54

I love Eau Duelle in autumn/winter, and living in Scotland that is most of the year - so that’s the one I wear most! I own Philosykos, Eau Papier, and Geranium Odorata too, and really like them all.

Gormenghastly · 02/07/2024 12:57

I see love of eau duelle!
I was in love with the idea of it, but so glad I didn't buy a large bottle. It sits uncomfortably on my own skin, and has an almost indistinct smoky sharpness. I barely get the vanilla, personally, which is sad.
On first trying it, it seemed to irritate my nose passages, never had that before!

I will stick with Mercier's Vanille, I think I get along better with the less mature smelling vanilla's. Like a vanilla vanilla, lol.

I also want to sample the rose.

I absolutely love eau du sans, wear it almost daily and always have many compliments. I can never smell it on myself so I didn't think it lasted but apparently everyone else can smell it.

I also love the neroli one, it's similar to portifino one from Tom ford but lasts longer I think

RainbowZebraWarrior · 02/07/2024 13:05

I adore Diptyque.

I've just ordered the rose from eBay. I've previously used Sens and No34.

Bought the limited edition sold out Biscuit candle last week (vinted) which is utterly divine. I don't think they do the scent as a perfume, however.

Also, the scent of their lip balm is just divine. I'm not sure what it is, though. Anyone know? It's sort of fruity.

Poggishairtufts · 02/07/2024 14:59

Splashed out on a bottle of Fleur de Peau at CDG recently, love it and reminds me of a great weekend in Paris. I also have Philosykos and Do Son but I get a whiff of mushrooms with Do Son weirdly. The Eau De Papier smelt of nothing to me. I find some of the newer ones don't smell of anything and think their candles don't have as much throw as they used to either sadly.

IsadoraQuagmire · 02/07/2024 15:11

Do Son is my favourite, I love tuberose.

MotherWol · 02/07/2024 15:11

@Gormenghastly I also rate the Beauty Pie vanille nue, which is a warm vanilla, not too gourmand or sweet, reminds me of the long discontinued L'Occitane vanille bourbon. Vanilla fragrances are tricky because if they're too sweet they risk smelling like cheap body spray and you really want that warmth to come through, the BP one has a nice depth to it.

faustina · 02/07/2024 15:26

I love 34 and geranium, and then they do a candle called bois cire which is amazing and makes your house instantly smell as if you've just waxed all your floors

I agree! I like a lot of diptyque but everything Chanel smells awful to me!

Petal7 · 02/07/2024 17:23

I love Geranium Odorata.

Thanks so much for sharing this! I've had the Beauty Pie Vanilla one in my basket for ages, dithering about whether to buy it or not. I loved the L'Occitane one when it was available. I'm going to BP Checkout now 😀
