Is it impossible to repair holes in cashmere (worn through not Moths)

A hole around the size of a 5p has appeared in the elbow of a cardigan.

I can’t bear to throw it away, is it impossible to repair? It’s just going to get bigger if I keep wearing it, I’ve seen on Etsy you can buy cashmere patches, is it very hard to sew cashmere?

It would probably be quite easy to sew, provided you are happy for there to be a visible patch. If you wanted an invisible repair you might be better off taking it to someone who specialises in repairing wool.

If you're doing ab elbow patch though, you can get a matching pair and put one on each elbow, make it look deliberate.

You can do visible mending which means you sew over the holes with coloured thread to make it show. I've seen all sorts of lovely things embroidered or you can do a plain colour.
Elbow patches useful if you wore it through

Have a look at The Seam repair service. They’re on Instagram.

When I was at school our Geography Teacher had leather elbow patches on his jacket.
Could you do something like that?

Google invisible mending.

You could darn it. You can buy cashmere yarn from wool shops so you could hopefully match the colour. You just need to catch every knitted stitch round the hole in the darning so it doesn’t run again. Used to be quite a common thing when I was little, back when Adam was a lad. I expect there are YouTube tutorials these days.

Have a look at Visible Creative Mending by Flora Collingwood Norris. I think they may offer a ‘darning/repair’ service.
