Define your style

I enjoy reading the style and beauty section on here, it’s largely (not always) friendly and supportive. One thing that clear clear is that there are a wide range of ideas in terms of style.

So, sort of a poll without a poll…how would you define yours?

I flit between monochrome “Swedish Architect” (if you remember the thread) and bright Beachy Boho which is a bit of a contrast. The one trend that runs through both will be that something in my outfit is oversized. I think I dress to try and stand out rather than fit in and feel very flat if I’m wearing something too safe like jeans and a T however nice the fit.

Would anyone else like to share?

I don't really have a style. I love jeans and a tee, but tend to wear track pants a lot of the time in the cooler months. In summer I waft around in linen, in winter I dress for warmth. Lots of merino too, and I own very little in the way of synthetic stuff. Nothing fitted for me either, and I like simple clothes, I don't have much which is patterned. Lots of either blue, or earthy colours, nothing too bright.

There was a thread on here a while ago with a title that was something like "if Monty Don was a woman", and that's the look that I aspire to, but with a hint of minimalism and a teeny bit of rock chic thrown in. Sadly, due to the realities of life and my body shape (stocky, on a good day), I quite often end up with a look which is better described as "slightly dishevelled lesbian" - think big shirts (often plaid), jeans and clumpy boots.

Colourful 70s skater girl - trying to be more stylish as I get older so aiming for maximalist sophisticate.

Having read through this thread, the style I’m most comfortable in is Scandi-natural.

in plain English, I wear jeans, (wide leg or boyfriend), or wide leg trousers; navy or grey sweaters, navy, grey, blue or white tops; white trainers / Birkenstocks / converse in Spring and Summer; chunky ankle boots in Winter. Classic navy wool coat or a trench.

I never wear body con or fitted clothes (I hate the feeling of tight clothes) add I rarely wear patterns unless they look like a Mondrian painting! I am petite - my kibbe is either soft gamine or soft natural - I float between the 2, as I can never determine how wide my shoulders look.

I have gone back to a short curly bob recently, after trying to grow my hair long and realizing it (long curly hair) did not fit my style.

As well as Scandi minimalism, I love Japanese and Korean style looks - wide trousers; trench coats; flat trainers. I think it suits my petite size.

Relaxed (ageing Grin) rock chick
Love biker style jeans, mostly wear black clothes plus jeans and some animal print, silver and leather jewellery but no heels or overly fussy items so relaxed look.
