Need to hide a pregnancy at a wedding

It’s a small wedding and I don’t want to detract any attention from the couple as there are already issues.

Will only be 12ish weeks but I have a flat stomach and it’s my second pregnancy so I’m anticipating a bit of a bump.

I usually wear quite slinky stuff so a floral tent may as well be a sign saying ‘up the duff’.

I’m looking for a cami dress with an artful ruffle or lots of detail. Maybe one of those tiered maxi dresses. But everything on ASOS is too sexy for a church wedding or too surrendered wife.

Has anyone seen anything that may help?

I love this

only thing is- I was planning on it being modest enough to wear to a christening the same week and I think this is a bit too disco

This is lovely and with a softer hairstyle, simpler sandal or espadrille it could definitely work for a christening too.

Bear in mind that your boobs might be fuller than usual, which might give it away more than a small bump.

OneNewUser · 26/06/2024 23:04

Would something this cut work? Short at the front but back makes it more wedding/christening suitable?

Would this be suitable, or might it look too casual?

Would this one work is it too bare on the shoulders?

I found the most flattering bump hiding thing was a plainish dress in a solid colour with a jacket on top. It mixes up the silhouette a bit,

tongsatdawn · 27/06/2024 09:59

@Probionic What’s a surrendered wife ?
(The ASOS moss green dress is perfect)

FairHiker · 27/06/2024 11:40

This scenario is actually quite funny aha

PiggieWig · 27/06/2024 12:48

I was a pregnant bridesmaid at 14 weeks with my second. The dress didn't hide it, but I wore spanx to actually get into it. They were surprisingly comfy.
With the right dress I think you'll be able to be discrete.

Sad you feel you have to hide your condition. Rethink it.

It’s really not sad and I don’t need to rethink it

do you have a dress suggestion for me or…?

is it not obvious that there may be very good reasons why OP doesn't want it to become apparent? The couple may have recently experienced a loss and OP might not want her news to cast any sadness over their day. Or a multitude of other sensitive reasons!

Twotimesrhymes · 27/06/2024 14:04

I think you are a very kind and considerate person op
i have never dealt with fertility issues but I can only imagine the pain and it’s not the day, as you said, to let it be known that you have happy news (huge congrats by the way) 💐

TheSquareMile · 27/06/2024 15:11

@Probionic

Which colours you do like in dresses, OP? What suits you?

No dress recommendations but when I was in a similar situation I was sure to hold a wine glass of most of the reception so I wasn't conspicuous by not drinking.

This! Plus I found most people were more concerned about their next drink, not what I had in my glass.

I managed my own birthday party, a hen do and a wedding without a suspicion!

Enjoy the wedding.

Lorelaigilless · 27/06/2024 16:02

I’m sure it’ll be fine OP. At 12 weeks you won’t be showing even with a second baby, certainly not enough for anyone to notice. the second khaki green one you posted is the nicest.

Yes but have a water bottle of shloer - looks like wine but not
