What on earth am I going to wear! Suggestions welcome thank you.

Short 5’3 ish boy frame, small boobs, size 8.

A lines suit me well or maxi style. Potentially tea dresses could be a goer as too long with bending down will be dragging all in the mud. Open to your expertise!

I think a cropped culotte jumpsuit in a pattern with some flat shoes/sandals.

https://www.asos.com/asos-design/asos-design-pleated-jumpsuit-with-belt-in-red-floral/prd/204207357

This is the best suggestion on here, looks nice, practical, and doesn’t cost the earth

Ruthietuthie · 23/06/2024 20:23

Agree that the Asos patterned jumpsuit is the best so far. To me, the Hobbs pale blue jumpsuit has a BeeGees feel to it, which perhaps the OP isn't going for, so I am with you on that @IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle, but surely you must agree that "Gather and See" is rather a particular look...

LunaNorth · 23/06/2024 20:31

I’d go for an elevated festival vibe. Look at what Jo Whiley wears for Glastonbury.

Take wellies just in case, but start the day hopefully in glam trainers.

AreolaGrande · 23/06/2024 20:40

The asos jumpsuit is really lovely, looks comfy and would really suit a size 8 with small boobs.

The Hobbs jumpsuit and the Gather & See dresses are both hideous, just different kinds of hideous 🤷‍♀️.

Inlaw · 23/06/2024 20:59

Thanks all. Sorry for delay in replying! So busy atm hence not having time to look at this properly and getting more and more panicked as the weeks go by.

I think I like the ASOS jumpsuit best so far and I get what you mean about the gather and see. Stunning but a certain vibe and with my sometimes unruly hair I might look too much like I had been teleported from a period drama 🤣

I do like this one best of the gather and see https://gatherandsee.com/collections/dresses/products/ruby-poplin-katie-dress

I agree about working from bottom up. I have looked at ankle wellies in a bright colour to make it fun or Chelsea loafer style shoes like https://www.reiss.com/style/ST688207/M78721?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIto_6nsHyhgMVD5NQBh3kNQWYEAQYAyABEgIH0vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#M78721

I too am stuck on style. One minute I’m going festival vibes, the next thinking I need more structure of formality. And which is best when trying to pull off the wayward shoe situation. It’s very confusing and I’m getting no steer from the bride. Or perhaps that just makes me super flexible on style.

I just want a good cut on the dress and not to be self conscious (with thin and flimsy dress wear) or uncomfortable.

Budget less than £500 in total but would rather not spend all of that unless it’s worth it.

God you can tell from my tabs last night that I really am having an existential crisis with this 🤣

You didn't mention budget but let me chuck this into the ring.

Yes this tea dress style was originally where I was thinking might be a good compromise between everything. That’s a nice one Thankyou

I think this is a good practical option. Will look good with a variety of footwear and [channels 27 dresses] you could easily wear it again 😉

A jumpsuit and flat sandals?

LunaNorth · 23/06/2024 21:32

I’m not sure chiffon is a great idea in a wood, though.

Inlaw · 23/06/2024 21:32

Omg haha I am awful at this! I’m finding loads of beautiful outfits but really not narrowing down this search at all…

I actually like that red and white laced one. It’s so outrageously dressy for me that I would feel dressed up even if I wore loafers with that.

Some ideas here. I like the midi and ankle boots look.

The girl to the left of the groom in the wine-coloured dress looks fab.

LunaNorth · 23/06/2024 21:37

With your shape and size, what about a co-ord?

Just beware puffed sleeves. I am also size 8 / 5 foot 3 and yet puffed sleeves make me feel the size of an elephant (objectively unjustifiably, and yet….). I’m not convinced they work on anyone that doesn’t have that gangly limb look (which you might have).

Lentilweaver · 23/06/2024 21:42

Puffed sleeves look horrible on most women in my opinion, but the fashion industry has not got the memo and keeps putting them on everything.

I get what you mean. My shoulders are massive so the puff sleeve works sometimes atleast psychologically for me of ‘well it’s the dress rather than my shoulders’ IYSWIM.

The type of thing I traditionally look best in is the scarf remiss wrap dress type flows thing where it kind of rolls of the shoulder and then goes all unshapely but people can imagine I have hips IYSWIM.

Or something which cuts in under the bust or at the waist that then kicks into an a-line but that’s very prom like.

I searched for the coords and didn’t find much but did end up on a lovely website selling similarly described bag dresses 🤣

I like most of the Gather and See stuff. Almost of all their dresses could be worn with boots as in the woodland wedding photo. None of it shouts "wedding guest dress"- always a bonus.

I don't like the ASOS jumpsuit either but it's marginally less horrible than the Hobbs one.

Which one is that?
