What on earth am I going to wear! Suggestions welcome thank you.

Short 5’3 ish boy frame, small boobs, size 8.

A lines suit me well or maxi style. Potentially tea dresses could be a goer as too long with bending down will be dragging all in the mud. Open to your expertise!

What sort of budget?

This was my first thought but may be more than you want to spend:

Last year a particular legacy high street brand had some wonderful printed cotton dresses, perfect for informal outdoor wedding wear - if only I could remember which it was …

Or something from

Pink City Prints

Are you a guest or the bride?

My first thought when I read the OP Title, for some reason, was a nice jump suit.

Ever practical, I read 'woodland' and thought chilly, muddy, biting bugs, bushes, stingers..
And chasing a toddler? Nothing that'll need constant hoiking up or fishing out.
🤣

Mairzydotes · 23/06/2024 09:18

A jumpsuit?

CountryCousin · 23/06/2024 09:36

Oh, I assumed guest! People usually say if they’re the bride? Apologies if wrong.

Nouvellenovel · 23/06/2024 09:41

Wellies and a rain hat if it’s the UK.
Weather aside I would wear nice trousers so that you could have more practical footwear and keep all the dressy bit for your top half.

CountryCousin · 23/06/2024 09:48

It was Warehouse! Link below just the first I saw now, and a size 8, but it’s Warehouse own brand William Morris Collection:

Others last year were pure cotton.

That's lovely but two things would put me off. The concealed zip opening and the light colour!

Also thinking a jumpsuit, probably slightly cropped. With flat chunky silver sandals and silver bangles.

I suppose we all have different tastes but that's about the last thing that would enter my head for "a woodland wedding" (or tbh, just about any event)

I was suggesting things like that, not necessarily that actual one, it's for OP to pick she likes. 👍

Since you mention running around, work up from your feet. This is what I'd do.

Treat yourself to nice new trainers, but don't buy them till you've got the two main items sorted. Don't think white. Woodlands aren't kind to white footwear.

  1. Legs: look for something comfortable that you can bend down in, with a pattern to hide marks from grubby fingers or food drops.

2.Choose a top (natural fabric, for the woodland vibe) in a colour and a style that really suit you. If it is really a woodland setting, think about midge bites and do not expose to much skin for them to dine on.

  1. Get a big bright poncho for if it rains.

Have fun.

At least 2 outfits!

Ruthietuthie · 23/06/2024 18:01

Mmm... to me, those "Gather and See" dresses have rather a "home-sewn by the Amish" look.

Mummylovesmonkeys · 23/06/2024 19:10

100% this! :)

p.s. the pale blue jump suit is gorgeous, and I reckon perfect for a wedding!

Thank God you said that. Each to their own but I think they're really awful 😬

As you say, each to their own. I've looked again at the Hobbs pale blue jumpsuit. It's truly horrible.

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 23/06/2024 19:51

Something that will look ok with boots. I've been to a wedding in a field, it went from sunny to raining. I thought I was wearing practical clothes but the footwear wasn't practical enough. So start with boots or trainers. Then something more casual than whatever you were thinking of! (And without floaty bits that will drag and get caught, and I wouldn't wear a jumpsuit either!)

Large cable ties & Gaffer tape

Toddler bit sorted
