Need a knockout dress!

I’m looking for a dress as I have several parties to go to later this year. I’m short (alas), size 8 and an hourglass shape (which might mean I need a 10 to fit my bust since so few brands cut well for curvy women). Ideally I’d like something in quite a 1950s shape with a swishy skirt - think Elizabeth Taylor in her prime. I was looking at Bombshell London but they’ve gone into liquidation. I don’t suit prints or frills as they just drown me; I need quite simple lines and plain colours. I wear trousers all the time so feeling a bit stumped with this! Ideas very gratefully received.

It's a nice dress but the skirt looks quite narrow - whatever I buy I want to be able to take proper steps in it.

Natural fabrics, cool deep colours, something I can wear a proper bra with. Not girly or frilly, that didn't suit me even when I was 30 years younger. And because I 'm so short anything with a deep neckline is liable to be indecent on me.

I like those Pretty Dress Company ones if the neckline isn't too low - bit worried that on me it might show a lot more than I want to!

The Outnet one is too fussy for me, though I like the colour.

I was just going to say the Pretty Dress Company. I have several dresses from here and they are exceptional quality. This brand is favoured by a lot of people in the public eye, this is how it first came to my attention, hope you find something.

I am liking the Pretty Dress Company ones, will order and see how I go! Thanks for the help.
