Wedding outfit?

Looking opinions on whether this is suitable for a wedding next month - I'd be wearing it with similar shoes except in matte gold, with some gold jewellery. My sister has said its not appropriate because it's a two piece rather than a dress but this isn't wedding etiquette I've ever heard before

I wouldn't worry about it being a two piece but to me, that dress looks hideous for a wedding. Sorry!

RandomersAssociation · 22/06/2024 11:28

Two pieces (or co-ords as they’re now called) are lovely and perfectly suitable for weddings.

But the excessive shiny fringing on that outfit makes it look silly.

StressyMcStressFace · 22/06/2024 11:52

I think it's your sister's polite way of saying "you are not seriously thinking of wearing that are you!"

Lopella · 22/06/2024 11:54

Thank you both - it is more my style of clothing and appreciate its not to everyone's tastes, just as long as its not inappropriate!

Possibly.... although she approved of this dress which to my eye is similar in style but is a one piece. It was just very uncomfortable when on

do you really like fringing?

Yes

I think both are appropriate but not to my taste. The second one is miles better though.

jackstini · 22/06/2024 12:01

The dress is nicer but both are technically appropriate for a wedding

Fucketbucket · 22/06/2024 12:01

It's fine for a wedding OP, I quite like it

Lopella · 22/06/2024 12:07

Thank you all. I do prefer the dress (I bought it first). It's just so uncomfortable. The stitching around the arms and neck is incredibly rough and I reckon would bring me put in a rash if worn all day, particularly if it's a hot day

Sorry but they both look like a vintage lampshade has been recycled to me. No reason why you couldn't wear them to a wedding though.

Helenloveschat · 22/06/2024 13:01

I really like the first outfit (though I think the fringing is too shiny for me). I love the shape, colour, style and it's certainly fine for a wedding. I've never heard of only being able to wear a dress -where do trousers fit into that?! If you feel comfortable in it then crack on and enjoy the wedding.

jackstini · 22/06/2024 13:41

Can you just get some soft lining added to the neckline and armholes of the dress?

Otherwise what's your budget and we can search for something else?

YourWinter · 22/06/2024 13:43

To me it looks like a Pocahontas fancy dress outfit!

Two piece outfits are very appropriate!

Lopella · 22/06/2024 14:39

Thank you everyone - I'm just going in the first outfit, consensus seems to be its appropriate just not to everyone's taste - it's my kind of style, and comfy and not inappropriate which is the main thing I needed to gauge. Thank you for all opinions, even those who didn't like it

It looks like a 70s lamp shade sorry! And actually doesn't look very smart for a wedding.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 22/06/2024 15:54

awful.Sorry

BobbyBiscuits · 22/06/2024 15:56

I do prefer the second one. I'd say the first looks a bit hippyish, festival chic kind of vibes, but not really weddingy. Though that does depend on the style of the day etc.

Fushia123 · 22/06/2024 16:32

I am quite a conservative dresser but I think your two piece is lovely. Unusual and interesting - wear it with style and confidence!

EarthyMamma · 22/06/2024 17:26

I think the two piece is fabulous and I would definitely tell you that I love your outfit if I was a fellow guest ☺️💖

Bohomovies · 22/06/2024 18:19

I love both of those outfits, particularly the first one.
