La Roche posey- no
biore watery essence- no
nuxe- no
Clinique city block- no
nivea- no
piz bun-no
beauty pie- no
Hawaiian tropic facial sunblock- good but can’t find it anymore.

help me, I have tried all of the above and they do not give me great coverage. Still tanning. Can’t wear a hat to menopausal sweaty head. But do sometimes wear a visor.

Altruist? (Cheap)
Dr Sam? (Pricey)

soupfiend · 18/06/2024 21:02

Im not sure any of them completely block out the sun do they?

Ive been wearing factor 50 some days on a recent beach trip but still went red and tanned a bit, although probably didnt reapply

Only way is to stay out of the sun if you dont want any colour at all

Lellochip · 18/06/2024 21:03

How much and how often are you applying?

Peclet · 18/06/2024 21:04

@soupfiend oh god that’s terrible. I apply sun cream regularly and a lot of it. But my face is getting so brown! I hate it. Freckles galore.

Am- about a 50p sized blob. This is juts part of my morning routine. Then if I leave the house. I put on the same again, to walk the dog or whatever. I try and do it about 10 mins before I leave.

i think some of the ones are effective- like la Roche posey and beauty pie (same things?) really irritates my eyes.

Altruist is excellent.
As is Garnier Vitamin C Daily UV invisible brightening fluid SPF 50
Boots No7 protect and perfect BB cream (tinted).

I've not burnt or tanned using any of the above, I do apply generously though.

TheBanffie · 18/06/2024 21:08

Clarins factor 50 sunblock stick is great but often sold out. A massive hat will help (massively)

midlifepisces · 18/06/2024 21:09

You need to wear a hat, sweaty head or not, and stay out of the sun if you're this bothered and none of those factor 50s are doing what you want them to.

That said I like Heliocare factor 50 oil free.

OohCookedPerfectly · 18/06/2024 21:10

Heliocare!!!!

SudExpress · 18/06/2024 21:12

Garnier SPF 50 for the face.
I'm as white as a white thing and live in Puglia where it's fucking hot and sunny.
Could it be that you're not putting enough on? Recommendations is for your index and middle finger length of sunscreen to go on.

Peclet · 18/06/2024 21:13

Thanks for the recommendations. I might give heliocore a go. I don’t like a white cast left behind (Clinique) or for it to be too oily (nuxe).

when it’s very sunny and hot I do wear a hat and always do on holiday. Perhaps I need to think about a less intense hat.

I totally get your point. But I really think I am. I have gone through one tube of biore watery essence in less than a month. I think I apply generously.

I have really sensitive sensitive skin and got Clinique because they test so much and are known as one of the more skin safe brands and it and clarins were awful, broke me out, greasy. I use le Roche posay which doesn’t help you!!

Elephantscantfly · 18/06/2024 21:15

Dermalogica prisma protect is amazing, worth every penny! It’s only factor 30 but amazing stuff. I also use dermalogica age smart dynamic skin recovery factor 50 moisturiser on a daily basis, absorbs well and great base under make up or on its own - offer on at John Lewis at the moment 😀

Nitgel · 18/06/2024 21:16

I use Ultrasun face and never tan on my face.

somethingisnotquiteright · 18/06/2024 21:17

Eucerin!

Ws2210 · 18/06/2024 21:19

Get a broad brimmed visor. I have one as I'm very pale and have a lot of hair. It's essentially a massive straw hat without the head covering bit. I look like a lunatic when I wear it (with my bright ginger hair poking out the top) but it keeps my face shaded!

Fliss89 · 18/06/2024 21:19

100% Heliocare

3littlelambs · 18/06/2024 21:21

Ultrasun face

GettingStuffed · 18/06/2024 21:42

I used either superdrug or tesco own brand. Cheap as chips but they work

Weelegs29 · 18/06/2024 21:44

Supergoop unseen suncreen

Passiflora2 · 18/06/2024 21:53

Supergoop unseen suncreen

I got sine of that in some advent calendar or something. I love it.

muddlingthrou · 18/06/2024 22:03

Another vote for Eucerin. I know it works a treat as I neglected to rub it into my hairline during a week's holiday and now have a distinct tan line 🤦🏽‍♀️

Fluffypuppy1 · 18/06/2024 22:10

Reimann P20 SPF 50. Lasts approx 8 hours so no need to reapply.

Peclet · 18/06/2024 22:12

On some really good recommends here that I had not heard of. I am off to investigate and invest!
