Hair loss

I'm shedding like a labrador lately, everywhere I've been there's hair, when I wash it there's a ridiculous amount in the plughole and tonnes on the brush when I've blow dried it. I can tell by my ponytail that there's thinning but it's not really noticeable to others yet, apart from when my clothes are covered in it, but if it carries on the way it has been doing, I'm going to get some obvious thinning patches.

What can I do/take/eat/treat with to ensure I've still got hair in a year's time

Make an appointment with your GP. It's important to understand why you are losing so much hair. Could be hormonal imbalance, thyroid function etc.

I use a Watermans shampoo called grow me. It's more pricey than my normal stuff but I heard good things about it.

How old are you ? This happened to me last year start of perimenopause. HRT has fixed it

Sorry, I thought I'd put my age in my post. I'm 50 and I know it's peri causing it, I was prescribed HRT by the doc, lasted 2 months but I had to stop taking it for various reasons.

I see the ads for things like Plantar shampoo but I don't want to waste money if they don't work, was looking for recommendations if poss of things that people have tried and had success with

I’m the same. It doesn’t look much different, yet, but it was always fine but plenty of it & now not so much. I’m shedding worse than my dogs! Hairs everywhere between us. I’ve used that Plantar shampoo, no difference that I could see. I’ve started to take biotin pills hoping that might help. I can’t take HRT either, chronic high BP even on medication ever since having pre eclampsia.

Definitely go to the GP and get blood tests done. You may be lacking in something. I was low on iron and my hair has improved since taking it. Even if they say you're in the normal range, make sure you know your results as you can be 'normal' and still too low for good hair growth.

The best shampoo I used before the HRT was the kerestase one and the scalp sprays but it's eye watering expensive Did make a difference though

Sounds like a plan, I was putting it down to peri but yeah blood tests might not be a bad idea.

I've been taking Perfectil for 3 months which is for hair, skin and nails but I've noticed absolutely no difference, in fact my nails seem worse! On recommendations on here, I've started to use castor oil on my nails of an evening so I'm hoping that might make a difference. I'm not overly bothered about my nails though, just my hair Sad

I've been on HRT for 2 years and my hair is still falling out and thinning so it's not always a miracle cure 😭

I've now been taking Biotin for 3 months but what I think might be starting to help a bit is a scalp serum. I read that dry scalp in peri can increase hair turnover and since starting it a few weeks ago, I've noticed more baby hairs at the roots. Here's hoping.....

Fingers crossed, would love an update in a month or so! What is the scalp serum you are using please?
