Black & white themed. Not sure if the white bow is too bridal/look at me!

for context, they’re friends of ours but not close!

lovely couple but likely to be on the last table sort of thing you know 😂

From all the ones that have been posted so far I like the first one the best.

Pancakeorcrepe · 18/06/2024 07:56

@VestibuleVirgin and @EmpressOfTheThread my understanding is that the couple getting married asked for everyone to wear black and white. Maybe they don’t want a big mix of colours in the pictures? To have some sort of Great Gatsby look? I don’t suit black at all so it wouldn’t be great for me.

Oh wow! Very My Fair Lady! 😊

Superstoria · 18/06/2024 08:16

I think if the couple have asked for black and white, the usual rules don’t really apply. I really like the first one! What sort of wedding is it?

charitynamechange · 18/06/2024 08:21

I think a Black and White theme rather calls for glamour doesn't it? That surely is the vibe the couple are after. I like the first one. I'd never be able to carry it off. But if you can i think it's perfect!

Comedycook · 18/06/2024 08:30

All the other options the op has posted are so dull and bland in comparison to the first dress.

The first dress immediately made me think of the female lead in crocodile Dundee for some reason. I could see her in it. I really think it's fabulous

Muffin101 · 18/06/2024 08:36

The first one, I think could be nice but wouldn’t be my first pick. It is quite 80s-fabulous but I don’t exactly dislike that aesthetic within reason.
I have to say, I’m going to go against the majority for the other choices. I don’t like any of the self portrait ones as I despise any dress where the sheer outer skirt that’s longer than the lining, it just makes the whole dress look so cheap to me. I personally think the square neck midi option from odd muse is gorgeous. A bit plain perhaps (but they want black for some unknown reason so!) but very classy and a timeless shape.

CadyEastman · 18/06/2024 08:48

Have you looked on Karen Millen. Not sure if you want to the bride thoufh Wink

Weddinggueststyle · 18/06/2024 09:13

Yes black as requested on the invite!

I don’t think it’s particularly formal or glitz though - just a very standard barn type wedding wedding I think…

interesting mix of responses on the dresses!

I think the odd muse one is stunning but very few comments on that one 🤣

the hunt continues

Too black. And too white in a dramatic way.

Melonportal · 18/06/2024 09:18

The odd muse on is by far my favourite. I think it's perfect.

BumbleShyBee · 18/06/2024 09:25

Yes agree. The Odd Muse one is lovely.

innerdesign · 18/06/2024 09:31

In that case, I think the Odd Muse one is a good choice for a barn wedding. It's the kind of dress you could get a lot of wear out of too.

ETA - polyester and spandex though, for £135?

PeonySeasons · 18/06/2024 09:35

Oh a barn wedding changes things tbh! The initial dress is even less suitable 😂 but I agree the Odd Muse one becomes more appropriate now, especially if the weather doesn't cooperate!

Weddinggueststyle · 18/06/2024 10:04

I do think it’s expensive and have be scouring the net for a cheaper version.

there’s a similar one on cider but I’m skeptical as that’s basically like SHEIN right?

innerdesign · 18/06/2024 10:34

Yeah, that's quite a jump from Self Portrait to Cider! I've heard mixed reviews but I'd avoid.

Some suggestions:

A&F
Nobody's Child
The Reformation

itsmabeline · 18/06/2024 11:23

I think it's lovely and since it's a black dress doesn't look too much like a wedding dress at all. I'd be pleased you dressed up so much for my event.

Anyone with a black and white theme for a wedding will be expecting bits of white in the dresses, and this one is not too much at all. It's lovely.

Too black. And too white in a dramatic way.

It's a black and white theme!!

I think it's gorgeous.

RamonaRamirez · 18/06/2024 12:09

I think the first dress is kick-ass and yes it looks 80s... and 80s is quite in now

If it suits you, wear it. I totally would

BasiliskStare · 18/06/2024 13:05

@Weddinggueststyle - I really like the odd muse one

CadyEastman · 18/06/2024 15:48

I'm still voting for the first dress Wink

IDontHateRainbows · 18/06/2024 16:53

I kind of like it but not for a wedding. It is a bit look at me. Would be great at a more appropriate occasion however.
