Nice cord things?

I love cord to wear but don't currently have any. Have you seen anything nice recently?

I'm size 10 and have a practical lifestyle, so trousers, shorts, non-floaty-frilly type dresses etc. Suitable for toddlers and dog walking!

Budget is high street prices.

Cord is a warm material I wear a lot in Autumn/Winter but is too warm for summer. Even this summer. And even for me who is always cold. When the new stock comes in for A/W there’ll be loads of it around.

henlake7 · 17/06/2024 11:29

I got some quite nice pieces from Boohoo and Asos in their sale section. They might have some off season stuff going cheap!
Also I think Halara does quite abit of cord.

MajorMischa · 17/06/2024 13:07

@TheOGCCL ahh so maybe cord is hard to find because it is hard to sell in the southern bit of the UK in summer! Makes sense. It's fine in summer here I assure you... seven degrees on Wednesday 😁
I will remember to look again in autumn, good tip.

I've never tried Halara, is it any good? I have ordered from ASOS and Boohoo before but found everything see-through. Maybe I should try them again.

Tu (Sainsbury's) often have a lot of cord during the autumn and winter.

dudsville · 17/06/2024 13:55

I love cord and wear it year round, but agree it's not so commonly on sale in "summer". Have you tried just a Google search like "cord shirt"?

MajorMischa · 17/06/2024 21:52

Yeah, done a good bit of searching. Next, H&M, Warehouse, Oasis so far. There's a bit of cord here and there, especially H&M, but the cut doesn't look quite right for my shape. That's why I just wondered if anyone had any recent purchases they loved. But it's probably the wrong time of year!

One day I'll learn how to do links....🤷🏼‍♀️

JamieFraserSporran · 18/06/2024 00:18

Look at Barbour. Just saw eg a cord mini skirt on there. Not just their own site.Google. Lots of suppliers.

PoachedScrambledBoiledFried · 18/06/2024 00:21

Not sure if you're a dungaree person but something like this is cute:

I have this (or similar) which is quite lightweight so would be fine in summer...you may prefer the darker colours for practicality though:

PoachedScrambledBoiledFried · 18/06/2024 00:30

Or a shacket?

Oh also - slightly above regular high street prices - but Lucy&Yak have cord trousers and dungarees - the dungarees are in the sale atm.

Thank you, these are all shops I wouldn't have thought of, and some great ideas. Fat face in particular have some really nice stuff but unfortunately all the bits I like are only available in size 22!
I love the shacket idea too, so think I will have a Google for shackets/jackets as hopefully they'd be a summer thing.
Thanks all! x

M&S did loads of trousers, in different colours and I think different shapes. But was autumn I think. Bet there'll be some on Vinted.

I was just about to suggest m and s too. Got trousers there recently.

PangoPurrl · 18/06/2024 11:11

I wear cord all year round, I have needlecord skirts and tunics for summer/warmer days, which also work well for layering at other times. If you don't mind second hand and you like the idea of tunic/smock type pieces then Laura Ashley has some gorgeous cord items. I have quite a collection of their old tunic dresses in various lovely colours, all from charity shops/ebay/vinted.

MarkWithaC · 18/06/2024 11:50

Try Uniqlo. They do a lot of cord for autumn/winter and may have it in the sale at this time of year.
And Seasalt; I'v got a few pairs of nice cord trousers from there that were marked down quite heavily, again in a summer sale.

Aparecium · 18/06/2024 19:20

I love Lands End cord 'jeans'. I always buy them in the sale, though!

I would like a cord tunic...
