Long skirts for size 18-20

Can you wear a long maxi skirt when this size with the top out, rather than tucked in, and not look frumpy? All online images show the models with tops tucked in, but I am too big for that.

I’ve never found a dress that skims sufficiently without looking like a huge baggy sack at the same time.

I am this size and try to find tops that finish directly on my waist to wear with a skirt, so boxy shaped T shirts etc. H and M have some good ones. I don’t like them tucked in.

yup, I think a semi cropped/shorter length top left out would look ok.

Plenty of women wear maxi length with long tops round here but its generally for religious or cultural reasons rather then fashion!

@Pigeonqueen @henlake7 the thing is that at waist length it then doesn’t cover my stomach, hips etc and skirts are just too fitting to be flattering. I think I’ll have to stick to trousers.

If you get an A line skirt and tuck your top in and pull it out a bit it's perfectly flattering, or wear a tight-ish short top (not skin tight) and much more so than a long top/ skirt combo as it creates a waist. Depends on the type of skirt. Elasticated waists, though comfy, are rarely flattering in larger sizes I find (which I am - larger than you).

I wear a long skirt with a vest top and a loose shirt over the top. Anything cropped or boxy is not my friend. Size 18.
