Just catching up after a weekend away, and my DH is wondering what I'm chuckling at!

Here's Märtha Louise of Norway and her fiancé at the launch of their new gin which they are releasing to celebrate their marriage in August.

I didn't realise bandage dresses were still being worn. And I don't think this one is as flattering as it could be. Obv it's a more hip evening event than a state dinner but I think she could have looked better in something else. Also they are wearing matching pearl necklaces.

Apparently the gin has been controversial as it has the word Princess on the label and she isn't supposed to use the title for her commercial ventures. Norway has strict advertising laws around alcohol and there is an investigation into whether this breaks the law.

So there's a (probably non traditional) royal wedding coming soon. In a beautiful tiny place on a fjord in Norway.

The gin is called Pink Gin but the word princess is on the back label.

Most of the articles are in Norwegian so I am not sure if that word is the only problem or the fact that she has been promoting it is why she is in trouble. It seems Norway has bans on alcohol advertising similar to our smoking advertising bans.

This is Leti from last month. White trousers again, but I think that's to do with the fact that she has to wear those Barefoot shoes. I think the cut of these is better than the ones upthread for the (rather literal) Red Cross event. Different jacket, which I rather like

I agree that these trousers work better than the culottes , slightly more casual and maybe intended to be worn with flats. I think Leti needs to decide if she's holding on to some things in the hope she can re-introduce heels, in which case at least buy a few bits from Zara that work with the flats, or she gets things taken up a couple of inches.

randomly stumbled on a podcast this week called Modern Royalty hosted by a lady who was adopted as a baby and discovered she was royal as an adult. She’s leaning into it, Delphine style. ML did the podcast with her and she just comes across as the kindest, gentlest, most fragile soul. It was interesting to see how royal protocol meant she couldn’t have a job outside the roy family and was not allowed to earn her own money. She tells a very funny story about busting out of her kindergarten age six with a friend in search of a cow and hiding from police.

Märtha Louise does come across very gentle, sensitive and dare I say it, extremely naive...

The gin has been recalled (I think it had only just been released IIRC) due to the investigation. The label had apparently been changed post approval.

Oh dear! I do hope she's getting advice.

ML is older than Haakon but, unlike in Sweden, when Norway changed the law to let the oldest child succeed to the throne regardless of sex, he kept his place in line. Otherwise we’d be looking at King Consort Shaman!

They have been engaged for two years which is exceptionally long for a royal engagement so I was wondering if they would ever get married but the date is now set for the end of August. I have no idea how public / private it will be and if we will get to see many photos.

There's a pupil I know from a local private school, same age as my son who went on to do charity work in Africa, first with the school, later off her own bat. She's 40 now with a baby courtesy of a local 20years younger than her. She's had some local marriage ceremony and is trying to get him back here permanently. Her parents absolutely loaded are being supportive but are fearful.

It's a pickle that's for sure.
