I am going away tomorrow with A Man and have been so busy at work that somehow this has crept up on me and I look like an utter scarecrow.

  • What is the quickest way to deal with rough dry feet? No time for footner. I need something to soak and exfoliate, what should I use?
  • what is the best fake tan for tragic middle aged blue legs?

thank you

I have used fake tan, I used to use a mousse one all the time that started with a gentle colour and builds up slowly. Left to my own devices I would probably see if there is a current superdrug equivalent, but I would prefer to get something that doesn't smell terrible and isn't streaky

I dont have the time or money to go to a salon. Also, I have never been to a salon and honestly having seen some of the results I trust an untried one less than myself.
I am not looking to change colour properly as I am very pale and it would look stupid. I just want to zhuzh my legs and feet a bit

I live in a small town and have a few barely bigger towns within a few miles. I do not fancy my chances of a good result by going into somewhere with a couple of hours notice, that has an appointment, and just trusting them to do something permanent to me, that will cost ££££, on the basis that nearly all "normal" treatments that have anything to do with colour make me look really stupid.

Look I know I haven't planned for this properly, if I had money and time for a salon I'd be having a desperately needed haircut.

Ok get yourself a foot file and pumice stone and heel balm. Soak your feet in warm water for 15 mins, dry them off and file. Give yourself a quick pedi while you're down there. Cover your feet in a generous amount of thick moisturiser, then a thin layer of Vaseline and some cotton socks overnight, should be soft and smooth by the next day.

Tan tonight with a light mousse, you won't be super dark but will give you some colour and will be more forgiving of mistakes than a dark tan. Moisturise in the morning after shower.

What about shaving legs? If you want to do that then tanning will be tricky immediately after..

Bondi Sands do a tan that’s great. Smells ok and doesn’t come off on sheets 😉

He won’t notice your feet. Just moisture and do some bright nail polish.

Have fun!

Get to boots and buy one of those metal foot files and some flexitol for your feet. Then get this https://www.boots.com/bondi-sands-skin-perfecting-gradual-lotion-150ml-10322401fornyour legs. Smells like cocoa butter, has a bronzer in it so you can see where it goes on. Looks great on the day, lighter after you've showered, but can put another layer on when you are away.

Bright nail varnish, plenty of wine!

thanks everyone
If I shave my legs now when can I do the fake tan?
or do I do the tan and then shave afterwards

I know it’s all about confidence, but really, he is a man! And won’t be focussed on your feet and legs, just gorgeous you !

Madamswearsalot · 15/06/2024 09:41

I’m not an expert on the fake tan front but a colleague recommends Effn from Superdrug. It’s a mousse and they do a light version for us pale ones. I find they all smell a bit - I think it’s the chemical reaction that makes the tan work so unavoidable.

For your feet I thoroughly recommend ameliorate intensive foot cream. Put it on before bed and see results the next day.

Good luck for your trip away!

NewbieSM · 15/06/2024 09:44

Ok yes shave your legs now and moisturise. Tonight, shower again to wash off the moisturiser then do your feet and pedicure. Put your tan on, I second getting a gradual tan with a tint rather than the wash off kind, if it's in the budget st tropez have a few good options

WavingTree · 15/06/2024 09:48

I just shave my legs, exfoliate, and do the tan. Don’t bother with a gradual one as you won’t see results.

Then shower and moisturise before you go.

RampantIvy · 15/06/2024 09:50

I use Dove for fake tan. It is just a gradual tan and isn't too obviously fake. It doesn't have that biscuity smell either.

Bright nail varnish, plenty of wine!

Obviously do the nails first 😁

Wizardcalledoz · 15/06/2024 10:18

The best thing for hard skin on feet is to soak them, and then rub the dry skin off - it will come off lile the rubbings from a rubber! Same with knees etc

CatonmyKeyboard · 15/06/2024 10:21

Am I the only one thinking 'trousers'?

In bed?

CatonmyKeyboard · 15/06/2024 13:58

Ah, true (though by that point he's probably not going to be looking at tan lines)

Or if you do it after, go for clear!

Dove gradual tan is good - it just takes the blue off if you are very pale. You could go stronger but what if you streak?

Cabbageandcoconut · 15/06/2024 18:05

Cerave sa foot cream is amazing.

BlackForestCake · 15/06/2024 22:56

He will not give a monkeys about your legs or feet.

He will also not have given any thought whatsoever to how his own feet look.

Calm down and enjoy your trip.
