Too bridesmaidy?

Hello

Does this look ok for a wedding if I’m not a bridesmaid? Can’t tell if it looks like a bridesmaid dress?

The actual bridesmaids are wearing champagne.

TIA

I'm afraid it does look like a bridesmaid dress. Is the event formal, for a long gown?

Mairzydotes · 14/06/2024 21:11

I really like it . I find dresses that style flattering. The colour not so much , it may not suit a lot of people.

No, if you know the bridesmaids are in a totally different colour it's fine. If they were in pink it might be a risk, but even then most bridesmaid dresses will be sleeveless/short sleeves. It's also totally normal now to wear a maxi dress as a wedding guest, regardless of formality.

Do they do it in another colour?

MamaSleep · 15/06/2024 06:58

It’s a formal event at a posh hotel in London. The groom is wearing a tux.

My other option is a black on shoulder dress from Nobody’s Child which I loved until I read you shouldn’t wear black to a wedding?! It’s next weekend so starting to stress.

The black one sounds much nicer. Entirely appropriate if it’s a black tie wedding.

I’d far wear classy black to a wedding than bubblegum pink.

Thank you!

The colour is awful. I also think that style of dress looks really odd with a high leg split.

Here's the dress. The shape is good but the combination of the ties at the waist and the split jars. It's as if the designer/ wearer didn't have the confidence just to wear a long, full skirted dress (in case it brings out the silly "ooh Stepford" comments) so sticks a "sexy " split into it
