A truly moisturising lipstick

My lips are so awful dry and chapped I'm not sure if I've become almost allergic to lipsticks?
I've given up with chanel Dior Charlotte tilbury and Bobbie brown .
Mac seems the least bad but even the Mac ones are drying now any tips advice- ideally I'd like to get one in John Lewis as I'm on my way there now!!

You might be dehydrated which no lipstick will fix unfortunately

ManilowBarry · 14/06/2024 12:55

Vaseline over the top of any lipstick.

They don’t stock RMS legendary serum lipstick, otherwise I’d recommend that.

SoTiredNeedHoliday · 14/06/2024 15:39

They all have a real mix of ingredients, you just need to find one that suits your skin. I find MAC very very drying and can't wear it. I find Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk ok. I tend to use more tinted lip moisturisers like Summer Fridays or trinny

If I wear lipstick I generally wear this on top which may seem a bit odd 😳, however, I have tried all the lip balms out there to stop my dry lips and this stuff is GOLD, it's the only thing that works for me.

ELF O face lipstick.
I never used to wear lipstick at all but I discovered that this one works better then lipbalm for me and doesnt need reapplying as much either.

lumpybumpydumpy · 14/06/2024 16:15

Thankyou so much . I find the lip balms make it worse.
I'll
Try and up the fluids and try some of your other tips

I would lean towards a tinted balm/glossy balm type lipstick at the moment. Cle de peau do an excellent one but it’s £££.

In terms of addressing the dehydration - water, gently wiping your lips with a flannel to exfoliate, and a really heavy duty lip balm overnight. Lanolips do an intensive golden salve - it’s designed for really dry patches of skin but is amazing on lips and it’s a huge tube. I’ve had the same tube on the go for three years and still have some left!

If lip balms are not working, and especially if you’re getting cracking or soreness in the corners of your lips maybe get your iron levels checked.

In my thirties I had this for months before I got full on glossitis (where the tastebuds go smooth and food just stings) and went to the doctor. Blood tests showed iron deficiency anaemia, it was easily treated.

Kitjenkinl · 14/06/2024 20:42

The new Lisa Eldridge baume one is supposed to be good.

FourEyesGood · 14/06/2024 20:57

It’s pricey, but I’ve started using MAC Prep + Prime lip before applying lipstick, and it’s definitely made a difference to how my lips feel. They’re less dry - and the lipstick lasts longer.

BusterGonad · 10/09/2024 14:32

I think you're probably illergic to one of the ingredients, you need to work out what and try to find a bend that doesn't contain it. Maybe a fragrance free lipstick? Most high end brands contain fragrance.

BusterGonad · 10/09/2024 14:38

Have you tried Clinique Colour pop or Revlon super lustrous (in the black round tube). I'm 99% sure both are fragrance free.

Normallynumb · 10/09/2024 15:17

I was just going to recommend Clinique
Cheaper lipsticks make my lips itch, but these don't dry my lips at all and are fragrance( and other things!) free
I can wear Mac Lustreglass lipsticks but not the rest

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 10/09/2024 15:32

I really like Clarins Lip Comfort Oil, which comes in a variety of shades but has more of the appearance of a tinted lip gloss than a lipstick. Put on overnight, or in the morning after breakfast, it makes my dry and quite crusty (sorry!) lips completely smooth and hydrated after just a few hours. The down side is that I think it's really expensive for the little tube that you get.

StoatofDisarray · 10/09/2024 16:08

Labello BlackBerry Shine lip balm is awesome. I used to wear designer lipsticks but now I prefer something that just makes my lips look and feel amazing. And it's less than a fiver.

I find the Nivea versions of these extreamly irritating. ☹️

Elizabeth Arden Lip Protectant. You can get tinted ones.

Nat6999 · 11/09/2024 04:24

Clinique almost lipstick. I use Blistex under all my lipstick, apply, wait a couple of minutes, then apply lipstick. Sometimes I just use a lip liner & smudge over blistex.
