Body care routine?

What's yours?

I've always had dry skin but suffering with extreme 'lizardyness' right now. Think I should up my game in terms of looking after my body. A little bit of luxury might also be nice since the bathroom is just about the only place I get half an hour of peace.

At the moment I:

  • shave legs
  • apply neutrogena body moisturiser - this nowhere near thick or heavy duty enough for my scales so needs replacing
  • occasionally - shave dead skin from feet and apply l'occitane foot cream (this needs to be far more regular)

And that is it!

No exfoliation?

Japanese wash cloth every day, and sometimes a home made sugar scrub in Summer.

Foot scraper thingummy.

Masses of body oil - usually olive mixed with an essential oil.

I think I'm a bit scared of exfoliating because I have very sensitive skin! Probably should look into it though.....

If I'm really looking after myself (which I don't always), it's;

Paint toenails and fingernails
Shave legs, bikini and underarms
IPL those areas once or twice a week (at home)
Apply urea foot cream
Use a rich hand cream

Paint toe and finger nails.
Shave legs and underarms.
Moisturiser.
Hollywood wax every 4 weeks.
Foot and hand cream.

Since having hysterectomy age 38 my hair on legs stop growing.. haven't shaved there since..
I do underarms n bikini line.
Exfoliate face. Moisturiser
Luckily no hard skin on feet.
I do manicure / pedicure.
Body scrub brush.
Moisturiser on body.
I adore hand and foot creams.

In the winter, basically nothing except a pedicure every 6 weeks because I can't stand having hooves.

Summer:
Epilate legs
Scrubby shower thing and acid body wash on bumpy bits daily (I have KP)
Exfoliate with body scrub once or twice a week
Body cream
Foot cream every night

If we're including hands, cuticle oil and handcream at least twice a day. Home manicure at least once every two weeks.

I should say I do also do armpits and paint my own nails relatively frequently.

Any recs for gentle exfoliators? Does it really make a difference to feel/appearance?

I have pretty sensitive skin so try not to use too many different products. Instead of an exfoliator I use a brush or those scratchy gloves. Then a nice moisturising shower gel and then a body moisturiser, usually the same brand / scent.
I apply a serum to my face straight after showering and then a thicker moisturiser afterwards.
I also use hand cream throughout the day.

Surely if you have sensitive skin the two things to avoid are shower gel and artificially scented skin products?
