Talk me into culling my makeup collection

OK, so I don’t have loads of makeup, but I am not using what I’ve got.

I don’t wear foundation or tinted moisturiser, and I have 6 of them. Some of them are 3 years old and used once. As I age I find anything foundation like makes me look older.

They need to go right?

I have 10 lipsticks, but rarely wear them. I either have very natural lips, like Nars Orgasm, or a deep red, mainly in winter. I am sure I don’t need 5 red lipsticks. I need to wear what I’ve got.

I don’t need 4 mascaras.

So what do I do? Hang onto them and wait for the day I might use them, or go upstairs and cull it, squeeze it out and recycle the tubes?

I’ve been on the toiletry threads here and I have got these down gradually, but I seem to be hanging onto the makeup.

Surely its a no brainer?
If you never use them then chuck them....make up goes off after all.

I dont think Id ever have any need for more then 2 lots of anything in make up...everyday and posh!

If you really never wear foundation or tinted moisturiser, throw them out. I would keep one tinted moisturiser, and then throw that out if you haven’t worn it.
Are the mascaras the same? Throw out the duplicates. I have one waterproof and one tubing mascara.
As for the lipsticks, if you want simplicity, choose one red and chuck the rest.
Personally, I think you can have more than one red because there’s so many tones of red.
If you’re not wearing the other colours, chuck them. You know what you want to wear, so simplify.

I know. It should be easy to do, but I am a bit of a “I might wear it one day”.
I find I buy makeup and toiletries when I am feeling a bit off. I do it to cheat me up.

I also have 20 nail varnishes and never wear them. My hands are too busy to keep any varnish on, or gel wrecks them, and my toes are too busy in running shoes to keep it on, so it has to be a cast iron gel on them to stay put.

What a waste.

Then keep them for another year and see if you are less attached to them, then. I couldn’t cull everything in the first go. I’ve still got two fenty lipsticks that I keep saying I’ll wear in summer, because I love the colour and texture of them.
You can keep them if you want them! You don’t have to tell anyone who’d disapprove you have six red lipsticks 😄 Do what makes you happy.

Definitely get rid of the things you won't use! Do a round one, wait a few days then do a round 2 and be even more ruthless!

I did it and it was so good to get rid of loads that I hadn't used in years (and treat myself to new, better quality stuff)

More things have actually crept in as I've been enticed by products that didn't work for me, so I might have to do another cull myself...

I actually went through my makeup yesterday. Most of it was acquired 2012 - 2015. I have kept only one or two of everything- only one eyeshadow palette; one red and one natural lipstick; one peach and one pink blusher.

I feel kind of sad but also kind of free.

I put a lot in the recycling bin at the supermarket and the unused/just swatched stuff will go on a Facebook free site at the weekend. If nobody wants it that is fine. It is not staying in my house.

However- I also have 60+ nail varnish colours- not going there yet!
