Best DIY blond dye for woman with a lot of white hair?

Could anyone recommend what brand/type of blond dye they use at home?

I have short hair and have a fair of white hair and find that the natural hair dye I usually get from Holland and Barrett just doesn't work for my hair anymore.

I don't really want to spend money on a hairdresser. I don't need to bleach the hair, just get a blond dye that effectively covers white hair.

I have pale skin and look really washed out with what looks like platinum hair at the moment!

If you have white hair (as opposed to darker greys) I think you're lucky in that you can put any blonde box dye on, and it will just take! I don't think you need to go to a hairdresser, as you don't need the tricky lightening bit done. White hair has no pigment, so you can put on any blonde colour and it should just come out fine (exactly as on the box/swatch).

I should say any L'Oréal, any blonde box without pre lightener. Superdrug have a whole aisle of them.

My friend with white hair uses the Poundshop ones and she looks fabulous!

While not being able to suggest a blonde dye, I would disagree. I was natural blond,so the front of my hair went completely white. Like you, I looked washed out,had to change the colour of my clothes. Covid and lockdowns,no hairdryer. I have 2 colour lo lights, light and dark blond, permanent colour, and yet it fades very quickly. Was told white hair is the most difficult to get colour onto. A friend with white hair, has it bleached then coloured.

No hairdresser! Phone altered that to hairdryer!

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I will get something from Loreal and maybe will get a slightly darker blond to make sure it covers the hair as much as possible rather than a light blond :).

My hair is really odd and I started getting some pure white hair when I was in my teens!

Now I have hair like an albino and it is quite hard to pull off!

Although I have 2 blonde coloured lo lites, I keep some white,it looks more natural. Hopefully yours will dye slightly different colours, looks much nicer and realistic and no roots to worry about

Thanks everyone for all the advice.

I ended up buying some Loreal 'Universal Nudes' dye, as that range has no ammonia. I went for their light blonde shade as the blonde one seemed a bit dark.

Happy with the result.

The shade was initially too ashy but I did the trick of mixing conditioner and lemon and using that as a mask and then manage to get some lovely blond hair after that.

I am really happy to some have some colour again! my 'albino' hair and pale skin was really washing me out and making me depressed.
