Hi there, this is probably an old one but is it worth 'having your colours done?' Do you think it really makes a difference?

My colouring changed due to changes in hair colour and skin tone.

I had it done earlier this year and really enjoyed it. It was more out of curiosity than anything else. The stylist used the draping method.

I was really surprised - certain colours made me look ill, while others appeared to even my skin tone.

I think it's worth doing.

Yes I’ve very recently had mine done.

Separately 3 days later I had my make up done.

Worth every penny. Both were a lovely experience.

Was great fun and now I have a colour palette to help me choose the best colours for me.

Go on, do it!

What the previous poster said! I found it really interesting, I learned a lot and it gave me some direction which I've valued when choosing outfits going forward

I dont know....what if they tell you your favourite colour doesnt suit you?
Then either you never wear it again or wear it knowing you look crap in it??

Best not to find IMO!.😆

It was worth it for me. I was stuck in a colour rut and it gave me the confidence to try a range of new colours

stardust777 · 10/06/2024 17:55

@henlake7 I said off the bat there were colours that I wouldn't give up (even if they weren't in my season) due to the way they make me feel. Luckily for me, these colours are in my season anyway. The analysis is just a guide.

You can put a picture of yourself into ChatGPT and ask it to do your colour analysis. Obviously not the same experience but interesting. Of course some wouldn't want to put their picture into AI but it is a money saving option.

Style me happy is great, very reasonable, done online. I think it's really helpful to have your colours done especially if you're not sure what suits you and what doesn't. It certainly makes a difference when you wear colours that suit you.

purpledagger · 10/06/2024 19:02

i did my own analysis, by reading up on the theory, then deducting the colour palettes that i didn't 'feel' comfortable in and found my colours that suit me.

i only follow the broad season though, not the breakdown within the seasons.

The positive for me is that i can mix and match more of my wardrobe as the colours go together.

the negative is seeing lots of nice clothes in the 'wrong' season and debating with myself about whether or not to buy it.

I haven't actually had mine done but have done all the online quizzes and filters etc. I'm pretty sure I'm a cool/true winter but some summer shades suit too.

jeaux90 · 10/06/2024 19:08

Definitely worth doing it my wardrobe is so much easier now I have ditched the stuff that doesn't suit, then when I shop it's way easier.

I had my colours done a couple of months ago with House of Colour and thought it was really worthwhile.

I've lost a lot of weight in the last year or so and needed to replace most (all!) of my wardrobe but was struggling to know what suited me. Although my session was just about my colours, I came away feeling really good and with more confidence. I've stopped hiding behind baggy black clothes and am enjoying rejigging my wardrobe - the local charity shop has done well and so have a lot of Vinted sellers.

For me, it was great. Some people say that they already know what suits them and that it's obvious but for those of us who are less certain it's really helpful. Wearing the 'right' colours makes a difference to how I feel and people have already started commenting how well I look.
