Help! Son’s graduation

Please help a fat and middle aged woman find something to wear. I’ve been stalking Vinted but I really don’t have a clue! Size 18/20. At least I’m tallish. About 5 ft 8. I live in walking boots and dog walking get up. Never wear dresses or skirts. What on earth do I wear????

What’s your budget? Whats your body shape ? Pear shape? Apple? Etc

Wear something you feel comfortable in, it can be a long day of standing around and traipsing to different buildings. Maybe not full walking boots though!

What do you have already that is at the smart end of the spectrum?

A jumpsuit would be great! I wore one to my son’s graduation and people seemed to like it. Try getting a wide leg one and dress with some nice heeled sandals/boots depending on the weather.

I’m not even sure of my shape! I would guess apple. The smartest I own is new wide legged linen trousers bought for a holiday. Lovely drapey material. Seasalt top and kimono jacket. (One hundred stars?)
I don’t want to spend too much on something I’m unlikely to wear. Really hoping not to much standing about or I’ll need to accessorise my look with my mobility Walker. 🥴

The linen trousers and top sound fine. Parents' graduation outfits should be more smart than everyday but don't need to be as smart as a smart wedding (unless that's what you want)

I personally think shopping on the basis of "am I an apple/ what are my colours" is pointless and constricting. Don't buy a jumpsuit unless you actually like jumpsuits.

A jumpsuit really wouldn’t suit me. I’ll stick to the trousers then. I’ll be comfortable!
