Dh has very generously offered to buy me a new pair of Louis Vuitton sandals for the summer, I am stuck between these uk.louisvuitton.com/eng-gb/products/bom-dia-flat-comfort-mules-nvprod4940046v/1ACHYI

And these uk.louisvuitton.com/eng-gb/products/bom-dia-flat-comfort-mules-nvprod4330228v/1ABVNF

I already have a pair in this style in the classic brown colour and they're are unbelievably comfortable, Stuck between the two, help! X

I have more money than I know what to do with and I'd buy something similar for £80 - £120. There are tons about and they are just as good. The LV links are indicative of more money than sense or possibly not quite enough money to not care about image.

Those aren't worth it in the way the classic low heeled Ferragamo Courts are or a Gucci loafer.

MrsSkylerWhite · 09/06/2024 12:47

Neither. The cream ones look very Edina. The black ones look like cheap plastic.

SpindleyDindley · 09/06/2024 12:48

£800 to look like a rich chav?

RosesAndHellebores · 09/06/2024 12:49

A branch of Parisienne Bobbies has opened on Marylebone Lane. More chic imo and more authentic.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 09/06/2024 12:52

When I could afford designer sandals (not now!) I was either going for show off ones and comfort but to be quite honest I’ve had cheaper ones which were just as comfy.

I’d get the black or Hermes ones.

@pictoosh mine were often presents rather than my money going on them. Yes you do get used to having the nicer sandals/shoes because that’s what you’re used to. Now I have less money but also I have recently (about 18 months ago) recovered from plantar fasciitis, so even super comfy Hermes sandals I’d still think twice about if I could afford them as if they made my PF flare up again I wouldn’t be happy about that. I wouldn’t buy them though new. Would go second hand these days.

Oh good to know. I used to love Marylebone High street when I worked that way.

Notellinganyone · 09/06/2024 12:57

Hi can something so expensive be so hideous! OP - if they weren’t LV would you like them? I wouldn’t wear them if you paid me.

PossumintheHouse · 09/06/2024 13:02

If you're determined to get LV, I'd definitely go for the more subtle black pair. However, if I had that kind of money to spend on sandals, I'd invest in a pair of tan or black Hermes Orans. Even better, I'd take my £800 and buy two quality pairs of Ralph Laurens, they consistently do such lovely sandals.

According to information online Louis Vuitton bags and shoes are made in France, Spain, Italy and the United States.

Hermès sandals are made in Italy or Greece.

Hi, yes I know they say that. However, I am sure the production line is similar to other less expensive shoes/bags etc. I often wonder about this, are they hand made, are they bespoke, no they are not, they are off the shelf (I'd expect that for the price!), are the workers paid handsomely from the profits, are their working conditions superb? All that kind of stuff that the fast fashion industry is berated for.

I don't know. Has anyone seen the factories/production process for these luxury items? The cynic in me says it's all labels and no knickers. 😃

RosesAndHellebores · 09/06/2024 13:16

My grannie always said "oh that one's fur coat and no knickers"!

I was a footwear buyer in a former life. Our shoes were made in Portugal, leather imported from Italy. The production line was hand-operated sewing machines etc. In family-run factories and the cost price alone of the sandals was about £80.

Every stage has margins to make. Leather importers charge the leather cost and all the costs for tax, shipping, employees. Factories have to pay bills and workers. The box manufacturer has costs to cover. Etc.

Wow I never expected to much negativity on a light hearted subject about a pair of bloody shoes. I went for the black ones, I also ordered the tan Hermès oran sandals but I have quite wide feet so not sure how well they will fit. I love Louis Vuitton shoes and always have, they are extremely comfortable and last for a long time.

Good for you op if you're happy, but people having different opinions is completely fine, and is nothing other than 'lighthearted'. These are expensive purchases so it's probably a good idea to make sure you're 100% happy with the price and style.

If you've bought them, it sounds like you are certain in your choice, so just enjoy them regardless

Great choice! Enjoy your new sandals.

Also hope your Hermes Orans don’t hurt you as much as my Oasis do me…..(I have wide feet too!)

Personally think you should buy a trumpet. IYKYK

Kitkat1523 · 10/06/2024 15:01

I think both pairs look tacky and chavvy
get some birkenstocks

useitorlose · 10/06/2024 15:11

I wouldn't spend that much on those sandals (and I can afford to, if I want to), but your feet, your gift, your choice. I hope you get many happy miles out of them.

ChefMike · 09/06/2024 07:45

I realise that's not clear. People will think they're fake, so don't buy them!

My friend has the Hermes Oran in black. She wanted a second pair in yellow just for her holiday but didn’t want to spend £600 so bought it from the ‘Dear Husband’ gate website. She said she can’t tell the difference unless it’s a cm from her face and the fakes are more comfortable 😂

kittycloud · 10/06/2024 15:37

I prefer the white ones Grin

Toottooot · 10/06/2024 15:44

Aside from a trumpet - love the white sandals 😍

Pieceofpurplesky · 10/06/2024 17:18

I wouldn't as there are almost identical and cheaper versions - for £800 I would want something special.

Your choice though - the black
Ones will look newer longer
