Dh has very generously offered to buy me a new pair of Louis Vuitton sandals for the summer, I am stuck between these uk.louisvuitton.com/eng-gb/products/bom-dia-flat-comfort-mules-nvprod4940046v/1ACHYI

And these uk.louisvuitton.com/eng-gb/products/bom-dia-flat-comfort-mules-nvprod4330228v/1ABVNF

I already have a pair in this style in the classic brown colour and they're are unbelievably comfortable, Stuck between the two, help! X

Don't get the white, they get horribly filthy unless you are just travelling from limo to limo. 🤣

But seriously, the footbed will get filthy,

Oh I can understand spending that amount of money- just not on Louis Vuitton.

I suppose it's all subjective but these Hermès sandals, to my eyes are far , far nicer. The Oran and other styles have the Hermès "H" shape. The difference is if you recognise the "H" shape you know they are Hèrmes and if you don't, they're just a stylish pair of sandals.

Those are gorgeous sandals.

And that principle is exactly why my favourite handbag brand is bottega veneta (Intrecciato weave in particular). No branding at all. Those that know will recognise the weave, but if not, they are still beautiful bags.

SeaWorkout · 09/06/2024 03:19

I’m sure I’ve seen these or very very similar in TKMaxx for around £40
Even if I was a millionaire, I’d never spend that on a cheap looking pair of sandals (probably cost pennies to produce) as I’d feel exploited.

I’d go for cream ones, though.

WildFlowerBees · 09/06/2024 06:10

What is it about them that you like op? Which would you wear more? Not at all similar but have you looked at Chanel Espadrilles? really comfortable mine have lasted years.

Row23 · 09/06/2024 06:48

I think you should ask him to save the money to put towards a designer handbag instead to be honest. They at least can be sold on and can increase in value over time depending on the style / brand.
If you really want these sandals though then get black as they’re less showy. The white ones look like you don’t often buy designer so are showing off that you have this one item. The black are more subtle.

Isabelle70 · 09/06/2024 06:51

I prefer the black ones as more understated. Also, you wouldn't have to be so precious about keeping them clean.
I do like the Hermes Chypre sandal but none of the colours unless I went for the black.

pinkgin79 · 09/06/2024 07:36

The black is the better of a bad pair. 🤷‍♀️

ChefMike · 09/06/2024 07:44

Look at Dr Martens sandals, for the reasons people have stated above.

Agree with PP, even if I could comfortably afford these, I'd never buy them. DMs are 1/6 the price, leather and nicer designed. Nobody will think the shoes you paid £800 for are fake.

ChefMike · 09/06/2024 07:45

I realise that's not clear. People will think they're fake, so don't buy them!

Triptastico · 09/06/2024 07:58

You have a nice DH Smile I prefer the black ones - more versatile.

themurkyera · 09/06/2024 08:05

If I had to it would be the black. That said they aren’t nice. Even if they were £29.99 I’d not like them. There are much, much nicer sandals out there. To be honest, I’d think you’d been to Turkey on holiday and bought fakes.

cavernclub · 09/06/2024 08:20

You're paying about £100 for the shoes and £700 for the brand name. Why not buy another pair of shoes for £100 and put the £700 to something else - that could go a long way. Or to charity?

Iloveyoubut · 09/06/2024 08:34

Actually answering the question you asked here… I’d probably have gone for the black ones but if you have the brown, are they dark brown? If they’re a darker brown and very similar to the black ones I’d go for the lighter ones for sure. X

HandsDown84 · 09/06/2024 08:36

GordonBlue · 09/06/2024 00:17

I'd go for the white ones. Chunky black sandals aren't all that versatile imo - whatever you wear them with, all you can see is Massive Sandal.

This is my experience too! You think they're versatile and then they look like winter shoes with bits missing.

Osllo · 09/06/2024 08:39

£800 for canvas and rubber? (The white ones). I'd get black on the basis that at least they are leather rather than canvas.

Penguinsmum · 09/06/2024 08:44

I like both but would probably choose the black. Lovely shoes, Enjoy!

pictoosh · 09/06/2024 08:47

The black out of those two.
Both are pretty horrid to me...but we're all different.

pictoosh · 09/06/2024 08:50

£800!

Lol...okay. It's a different world isn't it?

I wonder, other than status, what these sandals can offer that makes the price even close to worth paying?

Meadowfinch · 09/06/2024 08:54

There's a dilemma I'll never face 😂

Honestly, I can think of a million more enjoyable ways to spend that sort of money.

ThePoshUns · 09/06/2024 08:56

Money can't buy taste!

Chilliandrice · 09/06/2024 08:59

I prefer the white ones.

MummyJ12 · 09/06/2024 09:05

As you have a brown pair already, I would opt for the black as this will give more versatility to match with outfits and handbags, you already have a neutral in the brown pair so the black would be the smarter choice. I think they will age better too.

OneFrenchEgg · 09/06/2024 09:15

Hi op, in the vibe of style and beauty which is generally quite positive, I would say have you seen this colour

uk.louisvuitton.com/eng-gb/products/bom-dia-flat-comfort-mules-nvprod4940114v/1ACKIS

It's similar to the pale but a bit less 'logo' so more like the black pair and I think lighter sandals would be better. Like a pp I sometimes find heavy black sandals to look a bit off.

AccidentalTourism · 09/06/2024 09:20

Keep an eye out for the Harrods sale coming up, these might appear. I like them and can see the value, enjoy your shoes op.

Kelly51 · 09/06/2024 09:34

Oh dear, every shop in Turkey has LV knockoffs, £20 and look convincing.
Better things to spend £800 on.
