Roman clothing

I'm always impressed by the advice and general niceness of this corner of MN so I thought I'd throw this one out there.

I keep receiving adverts for Roman clothing and the dresses do look nice. However, I'm an on-line shopping fool and would prefer to avoid past mistakes.

So, are their clothes OK? If so, are the sizes fairly standard? (I'm not tall. )

Thank you!

If you order direct from them you have to pay for returns but you can order from the next website and return in store for free.

chipsandpeas · 04/06/2024 11:42

yeah i have a few things from them and its all good

pepperaunt · 04/06/2024 14:20

I have a couple of cute dresses from there but fit and quality varies

GettingStuffed · 04/06/2024 16:18

I've had stuff from there and it's been good quality for the price. They are generous with their sizing.

HappyAsASandboy · 04/06/2024 16:47

It is mixed IME. Some absolutely great stuff, and some that goes straight back!

Darklane · 04/06/2024 17:21

I’ve had some nice dresses from there. I’m only five foot exactly & they fit well. The quality I thought was fine for the price, better than much I’ve seen on the high street.

raspberryberet7 · 04/06/2024 17:39

I love their stuff but would say their sizes are slightly small

I find them generous and have to down size but I only buy dresses from them.

Hoppinggreen · 04/06/2024 17:49

I bought a lovely dress from them for my Mum to be buried in.
She would have liked it

Pumpkintopf · 04/06/2024 17:52

Have had some lovely dresses from there, true to size imo

AGlinnerOfHope · 04/06/2024 17:58

Some of my best things are from there.

Sometimes the fabric isn't nice, and some of it is very cruise wear- sequinned T-shirts and so on.

But I'm keeping a couple of things to copy the pattern from because they worked perfectly for me.

Thursdaygirl · 04/06/2024 18:06

I have bought quite a few things from Roman, and have been pleased

Cuppachuchu · 04/06/2024 18:30

I find the dresses true to size, but sent back a couple of tunic tops recently which were at least 2 sizes too big.

spiderlight · 04/06/2024 18:33

Their tops are enormous.

Cantalever · 04/06/2024 18:34

My main problem with them is that their colours are not true to how shown on the website - especially blues and greens. I have send things back several times, as look completely different in real life. Sizes are about right (I am twelve) but for me the waists are always too high - not just with Roman though.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 04/06/2024 19:51

Mixed but I have a few good items, including a jacket that I saw on another brand's website and it looked identical for 6 times the price!! I'd say the sizes run big, designed for more rounded figures, average height

Howyoualldoworkme · 04/06/2024 19:58

Their petite stuff fits me perfectly and their tea dresses are very flattering. I've just bought a very nice Chanel type jacket from them for a great price and you can usually find a money off coupon.
I think like all firms they can be hit and miss but it's cheaper for me to send things back than take them back to the shop which is quite far away.
Avoid the Facebook group though. It can be a bit 'Snag' if you get my drift.

suki1964 · 04/06/2024 20:09

Ive had a few dresses - petite - true to size and well finished - ie hems and seams are straight etc

EmmaGrundyForPM · 04/06/2024 20:13

I've got a couple of dresses from.there. I'm 5'5" and they are a good length on me. They are generously sized.

I've also got a couple of pairs of trousers. I think the trousers are much truer to size but that could just be my shape!

This is such a useful tip!

Genevie82 · 04/06/2024 20:53

Abit like a cheaper Boden I would say.. came across it a little while back - have got two striking summer dresses that are very lovely and get compliments. Think you can come across a good purchase from time to time!

thistimelastweek · 05/06/2024 07:07

Thanks all!
I'm checking it out.

I’m surprised at some of the fabrics, sweat inducing, considering the age they are aiming at. I’ve got a couple of tops that I live in in the winter, but many that I’ve sent back.
I also only buy via Next.

kiwiane · 05/06/2024 07:19

I bought some tops and was disappointed - the neckline seemed odd and revealed too much.
One tunic went all bobbly just in the wash - I didn’t tumble dry it so I won’t buy anything from them again.
If you buy online you have to pay the postage to return items or take into a store but they’re few and far between.
