Ideas needed, please, for an outfit for autumn wedding. I am so difficult and hate just about everything.

5 ft 7, size 12, bit big round the tum, otherwise vaguely proportional
Dark hair, pale skin but I do a bit of subtle fake tan.

I generally wear black, white, navy and grey and am cautious about wearing other colours but I feel I need to break out a bit and not play too safe and end up looking like I'm going to the office. Something a bit edgy.

Don't suit any orange-y colours, and muted colours like khaki, burgundy etc make me look washed out. But I don't like anything too bright either. I'm not sure what that leaves ... maybe a bluey-grey, or teal, or a muted pink? Sage green?

Needs to be midi length, don't think I like prints but who knows, no collar or buttons. I ususaly buy clothes from Cos, Arket, &Other Stories etc. I like drapy styles and really like those dresses with cape things at the back.

Any inspo?

How about looking for a navy and white dress, classic colours that you are comfortable with and picking colour pop accessories? The teal, pink or mint would work well.

Can't look now but I am sure someone will be along soon.

Im a dark colours person too same palette as you. I tried to be braver for an October wedding last year. I wore a deep purple mid length dress with silver and pale pink accessories. It worked and i felt v confident. I would usually have chosen navy with fuschia pink which is good also.

Book yourself a John Lewis personal stylist appointment. It’s completely free, you can tell them what you’re looking for and they’re really good at knowing what they have in stock and the sizing across brands.

You’re under no obligation to buy, I’ve ended up with some great things I never would’ve picked up, it’s worth a go :)
