Waterproof mascara for holiday

On the back of another thread (@gerbo) I'm looking for recommendations for good waterproof mascara for when on holiday. I will be in the pool but only on the sides to cool down I won't be doing any actual swimming. I don't want to get eyelashes and a tint just never works for me, it always fades very quickly. Yes, I could go without but I am quite fair and mascara is the one thing I'd never leave the house without and I'd really like to wear it even on hols!

Thanks for tagging me, I'll be watching! I've been reading and Eyeko seems to have a lot of recommendations...

Have you tried a lift and tint instead of just a tint? I always get amazing results and find it lasts longer than just a tint.

I love Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof. The travel size is actually better than the full size IMO as like a lot of waterproof mascaras, the large tube can dry out a bit before you finish it.

One thing to be mindful of with any waterproof mascara is to be careful with oil-based suncreams, as oil will budge waterproof makeup.

Also I tint at home, most of the commercial tints are rubbish. If you ever consider giving it another go, try the Julienne branded stuff from a salon shop. The difference is like night and day.

Dior Dramatic Overcurl waterproof is the best of all that I've tried.

Thanks so much everyone.

I'd like to try the lift & tint but am wary of spending so much and then not getting the results I want.

I had Eyeko before think it was from an advent calendar! But I wouldn't have wore it on holiday so it wasn't really put to the test. I remember liking it though.

Try collection waterproof mascara. It's about £4 and the best ever.

Try a tubing mascara.

Howtonamechange · 31/05/2024 06:30

I wore the huda beauty one recently to a waterpark where I got in and on all the slides and it barely moved. I think it's a tubing one so had come off slightly by end of the day but hadn't smudged and didn't give me panda eyes.

i second the eyeko recommendation, the sport one but not the beach one. It’s the only mascara I’ve used that doesn’t run at all, I pool swim with it regularly and it still looks good after, zero shift.

I use the Beauty Pie one, it doesn't budge.

I plumped for the Eyeko Sport, I'll let you know how it feels. Will trial it at home.

Thanks @gerbo I'll wait for your verdict!

I use the Eyeko beach from M&S advert calendar or beauty bag. It doesn't smudge but is a bastard to get off

gerbo · 02/06/2024 08:10

Apparently you need an oil based remover. I'd better buy one before trying!

tobee · 02/06/2024 15:34

I have an oil based remover but it still stays on

Lokshen · 02/06/2024 15:36

Just a cheap and cheerful Maybelline (the one in the pink and green tube but the waterproof version). Works well, not clumpy, bargain

Can you buy beauty pie in shops, please?

Meganmeccano · 02/06/2024 17:20

Thank you!

My favourite is the Lancôme hypnose doll eyes but I seem to have become allergic to it. I now use the No 7 purple one - cheap and effective!
